Original source description

Aviot Investment Nigeria Limited is the Nigerian subsidiary of a Canadian finance and investment holding company. From our Victoria Island, Lagos base we operate across commodity trading and export, structured trade finance, and institutional procurement Read more about this company Business Development Officer Job Type Full Time , Onsite Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 7 years Location Lagos Job Field Sales and Business Development Salary Range ₦200,000 - ₦300,000/month THE ROLE This is an origination role. You open doors and you qualify hard. The practice separates origination from closing as a matter of design. Hunters hunt and closers close, and no one here is asked to carry both as a permanent arrangement. You will not be sent alone into a room to negotiate terms you did not set, and you will not be judged on a signature you were never given the authority to obtain. You will work a target list the firm has already selected, by sector and by regulatory exposure. You are not cold-guessing who to call. When an opportunity is real, a senior closer takes the room with you, and you retain your commission on everything that engagement collects. Your responsibilities: Work the firm's selected target set across Lagos and the South West Reach finance decision-makers directly: financial controllers, finance managers, finance directors and owner-managers Qualify opportunities properly against the firm's criteria rather than accumulating contacts Brief the closer fully before every meeting Maintain an accurate pipeline record and report conversion and cash collected weekly Bring forward what you learn in the market, whether a recurring client difficulty or a regulatory change approaching an industry REMUNERATION Base salary is NGN 220,000 to NGN 250,000 gross per month, structured as Basic, Housing and Transport, and paid monthly irrespective of sales performance. Commission is 5 to 8 percent of every naira collected on engagements you originate. There is no cap, no threshold to clear before commission begins, and no quota gate. It accrues from the first naira. On that rate, NGN 5,000,000 collected returns NGN 250,000 to NGN 400,000 to you; that is arithmetic on the stated rate and not a forecast of volume. Commission accrues on cash actually collected rather than on contracts signed, and is settled at quarterly true-up. The firm pays on money received because that is the only figure that is real. The package further comprises a thirteenth month payment and HMO cover from the date of confirmation. Induction and training are paid employment: you join the payroll on your start date and are paid your full base salary from the first day. HOW THE FIRM WORKS The practice is built to operate with AI in the delivery line rather than alongside it. Every member of staff is equipped with the firm's AI tooling from the first day and trained in its disciplined use under a written quality protocol, which requires that every AI-assisted output is verified by a named person before it reaches a client. Nothing leaves the firm on the strength of a machine's word alone. In this role that matters commercially. Research on a target, the first draft of an approach, and the preparation that stands behind a credible first conversation are all substantially faster here than in a firm that has not built for it. PROGRESSION Origination is a discipline the firm intends to build depth in, and the Business Development Officer is the entry point to it rather than the ceiling. Advancement is determined against recorded performance on pipeline quality and cash collected, and is assessed on published metrics rather than tenure or preference. The standard is applied consistently in both directions, and the firm states that at the point of application rather than at the point of appraisal. REQUIREMENTS: Not less than three years in B2B or institutional sales, business development, or a client-facing financial services role, having personally carried a revenue number Evidence of at least two engagements or accounts you personally originated. You will be asked to describe how each prospect was found, the length of the cycle, your precise role and the outcome. Confidential client figures should not be disclosed. Sufficient command of the Nigerian business and regulatory environment to hold a credible first conversation with a financial controller or finance manager. A background in professional services, banking, audit, tax or insurance is directly relevant. Disciplined pipeline habits. You will be asked what tools you use unaided and how you track follow-up. Working fluency with AI tools in commercial work, assessed by a live task Comfort with remuneration weighted toward cash collected rather than base Availability to work on-site in Lagos SELECTION PROCESS Every application complying with the instructions below is read. Applications that do not comply are not read; for a role in which written instruction is followed daily, that is the first matter assessed. Shortlisted candidates are contacted by email with the assessment date, venue and joining instructions. Before attending, shortlisted candidates provide the most recent salary slip or documented evidence of remuneration, a letter of employment from the current or most recent employer, and a curriculum vitae with complete employment dates. Physical originals are required. Candidates attending without them are not assessed. Assessment is conducted in person in Lagos and covers commercial reasoning, a live prospecting exercise, written communication and conduct. Appointment is made on observed performance at assessment. No appointment is made on the strength of a curriculum vitae alone. Every shortlisted candidate is informed of the outcome, whether or not an offer is made. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT Employment is with Aviot Investment Nigeria Limited. Appointment commences on a probationary basis, with HMO cover attaching on confirmation. Offers carry a non-solicitation undertaking, set out in full in the offer letter and discussed openly before any offer is accepted. The firm does not spring terms on candidates at signature. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY Selection is made on demonstrated capability and conduct. The firm does not discriminate on the basis of sex, ethnicity, state of origin, religion, disability, or any characteristic unrelated to the requirements: of the role.
