Safety Officer at Catalyst Path Consulting (2 Openings) ⏲ Sep 2, 2026, 9:09 AM ⋕ View all Health, Safety & Environment jobs Catalyst Path Consulting is recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions below: Job Title: Safety Officer Locations: Abuja (FCT) and Suleja, Niger Employment Type: Full-time Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Reports To: HSE Manager / Operations Manager Job Summary The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying workplace hazards, conducting safety inspections, promoting safe work practices, investigating incidents, and ensuring employees and contractors comply with established safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. We are seeking a diligent and proactive Safety Officer to support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across our operations. Key Responsibilities: Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, inductions, and awareness training for employees and contractors. Carry out any other safety-related duties assigned by management. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, corrective actions, and other HSE activities. Ensure fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, emergency equipment, and safety signage are available and properly maintained. Monitor operational activities to identify unsafe conditions and take appropriate corrective action. Keep abreast of applicable HSE legislation, standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment. Promote a strong safety culture and encourage employees to report hazards and near misses. Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and prepare detailed reports. Monitor housekeeping and ensure work areas are clean, orderly, and free from avoidable hazards. Implement and monitor the company's Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. Work closely with supervisors and operational teams to resolve safety concerns. Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards and unsafe practices. Assist in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Monitor compliance with safe working procedures, permit-to-work systems, and other applicable safety requirements. Carry out risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures. Monitor contractors and visitors to ensure compliance with site safety requirements. Support emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency response procedures. Requirements: & Qualifications Good knowledge of PPE, fire safety, first aid, and workplace hazard control. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of professionalism. Knowledge of Nigerian workplace health and safety requirements: and industry best practices. Ability to conduct safety training and toolbox talks effectively. Good computer and report-writing skills. 2–4 years of relevant HSE/Safety experience, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, construction, or similar operational environment. Practical experience: in risk assessment, incident investigation, safety inspections, and emergency response. Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment. OND, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Sciences, or a related discipline.
