We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: General Manager Location: Abuja (FCT) Employment Type: Full-time Reports To: Managing Director / Board of Directors Job Summary The General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of CostCutter Supermarket. This role oversees all store locations, ensuring operational excellence, profitability, staff performance, customer satisfaction, and adherence to company standards and policies. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong retail management experience, commercial acumen, and the ability to drive growth in a competitive market. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Identify opportunities for new store locations, product lines, and service improvements. Set annual budgets, sales targets, and KPIs for all store locations. Represent the company in dealings with suppliers, vendors, regulators, and key stakeholders. Develop and execute business strategies to achieve sales targets, profitability, and market expansion goals. Operations Management: Ensure proper inventory management, stock control, and loss prevention across all locations. Oversee daily operations across all supermarket branches, ensuring efficiency and consistency. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate favorable purchasing terms. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements: (NAFDAC, SON, local council regulations, etc.). Monitor store layout, merchandising, and product presentation standards. Financial Management: Monitor sales performance, profit margins, and operating costs across all branches. Approve expenditures within delegated authority limits. Review financial reports, prepare budgets, and present performance updates to the Board/Management. Implement cost-control measures without compromising quality or customer experience. People Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate branch managers and department heads. Build and maintain a motivated, high-performing team culture across all stores. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews. Handle escalated staff issues, disciplinary matters, and performance management. Customer Experience: Ensure high standards of customer service across all touchpoints. Drive initiatives to improve customer loyalty and retention (promotions, delivery services, etc.). Address escalated customer complaints and implement feedback mechanisms. Marketing & Business Development: Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform business decisions. Collaborate with the marketing team on promotional campaigns, social media presence, and brand positioning. Support the growth of ancillary services such as nationwide/local delivery.
