We are currently executing a strategic expansion phase to scale our layer bird capacity to an initial milestone of 10,000 birds, with plans for continued long-term growth. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Farm Manager (Poultry) Location: Yarimawa, Tofa - Kano Employment Type: Full-time Reporting Directly To: Managing Director / Chairman / Secretary Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a highly competent, driven, and hands-on Farm Manager to oversee our daily operations and ensure optimal production, flock health, and profitability. Role Overview The Farm Manager will assume full operational responsibility for the poultry farm and serve as the primary driver of our production targets. Reporting directly to the executive leadership, the successful candidate must be highly articulate, responsive, and capable of providing clear, accurate, and data-driven daily reports on farm operations and performance. Key Responsibilities: Farm Operations & Administration: including challenges, achievements, and performance reports. Provide proactive, timely, and comprehensive daily operational updates Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily records of mortality, feed consumption, egg production, medication, and other key farm metrics. Supervise, train, and manage all farm workers and casual staff, fostering a culture of accountability, discipline, and high performance. Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring strict adherence to biosecurity protocols and industry best practices. Input & Inventory Management: Manage the procurement, storage, and efficient utilization of essential farm inputs (feed, vaccines, vitamins, medications, and sanitation chemicals). Ensure all farm machinery, poultry housing systems, equipment, and utilities are properly maintained and operational. Monitor feed formulation, rationing, and consumption to optimize bird nutrition while minimizing wastage. Flock Health & Production Management: Drive the farm toward its expansion goals while maintaining high egg production, optimal bird welfare, and minimal mortality rates. Implement and monitor vaccination, medication, and preventive health programs. Regularly inspect the flock for signs of disease, stress, injury, or malnutrition, taking immediate corrective action where necessary. Qualifications & Experience: Educational Qualification Relevant professional certifications in farm management, biosecurity, or poultry production will be an added advantage. Minimum of a Diploma (e.g., OND, ND) and above in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or a closely related discipline. Experience: Direct experience: managing layer birds is a significant advantage. Proven practical experience: working in or managing a commercial poultry farm. Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Highly responsive, proactive, and capable of executing directives efficiently. Strong leadership and people management abilities.
