Sustainability Manager, Compliance & Reporting Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 12 - 14 years Location Lagos Job Field Administration / Facilities , Environment Health and Safety , Legal and Regulatory Job Summary To oversee Sustainability compliance and reporting processes across Oando PLC and its subsidiaries, for the benefit of the Board of Directors, and other internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, ranking agencies and business partners, in order to ensure alignment with the Group ESG Strategy Framework, regulatory requirements, and international ESG standards, and to maintain transparent, accurate, and timely sustainability performance data that supports the Group’s positioning as a responsible and compliant business. Key Responsibilities: Areas (KRAs) and Initiatives ESG Strategy Execution and Board Advisory Advise and guide the Chairman, Board of Directors, and stakeholders on their ESG-related duties and responsibilities: by ensuring adherence to the Group ESG Strategy Framework and sustainability-related legislation, rules, and policies, to maintain robust governance oversight and reduce the risk of non-compliance. Lead the execution of the Group’s ESG strategy by ensuring the embedding of sustainability principles in board decisions and business processes, and reinforce global ESG and sustainability standards across the organisation. Develop, implement, and advise on the interpretation and application of relevant ESG laws, regulations, and policies by monitoring legislative developments across the Group, to ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements: in all jurisdictions where the Group operates. Develop and implement strategies to achieve the company’s corporate sustainability goals by engaging with key stakeholders to align sustainability initiatives, track progress toward goals, and adapt strategies as needed, to optimise outcomes while maintaining regulatory adherence and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“UNSDGs”). Coordinate with other departments and teams within the company by establishing cross-functional alignment mechanisms on ESG objectives, to ensure sustainability considerations are consistently integrated into business operations across the Group. ESG Compliance Monitoring and Reporting Design, develop, and implement ESG reporting templates and dashboards by aligning them with the company’s sustainability strategy, to monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”) and provide leadership with real-time visibility of ESG performance. Monitor, track, and report on the set ESG KPIs in alignment with the Board-approved ESG Strategy by collaborating with ESG Goalholders to identify and address ESG-related gaps, formulate and implement corrective plans that align with business realities. Draft and deliver detailed ESG and other compliance reports, including annual sustainability reports, by ensuring transparent, accurate, and timely compilation of ESG performance data, to meet the information needs of internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the preparation and submission of ESG-related financial reports and statutory meeting documentation by ensuring compliance with reporting requirements: for national and international regulatory frameworks, to protect the Group from regulatory sanctions and reputational risk. Maintain the corporate ESG database by implementing data quality controls and regular verification processes, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of recorded sustainability data and reports across all entities within the Group. Stakeholder Engagement and Regulatory Relations Develop strategies to engage stakeholders, including shareholders, regulators, and business partners, by establishing structured engagement plans and communication channels, to ensure transparency and compliance with sustainability regulations. Establish and maintain strong relationships with regulators and relevant governance organisations by ensuring the company fulfils all ESG-related obligations through proactive engagement and timely responses, to protect the Group’s licence to operate and reputation. Liaise with internal and external auditors by facilitating access to ESG data and documentation and managing the resolution of control issues identified during audits, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of ESG reporting in a timely manner. Foster a culture of sustainability and ESG compliance across the Group by developing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive policies, procedures, and training for management, employees, and other stakeholders, to embed ESG awareness and accountability at every level of the organisation. Address ESG-related due diligence inquiries and stakeholder responses promptly by coordinating inputs from relevant departments and preparing comprehensive response packages, to support corporate and funding transactions and maintain stakeholder confidence. ESG Project and Budget Management Manage project budgets and resource allocation within ESG operations by tracking expenditure against approved budgets and aligning resource deployment with organizational objectives, to ensure efficient use of funds and timely delivery of ESG initiatives. Support the effective management and delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder ESG projects by establishing project plans, monitoring progress, and managing dependencies under high-pressure situations, to ensure compliance reporting and stakeholder engagement commitments are met on time and within scope. Coordinate ESG due diligence processes for corporate and funding transactions by assembling cross-functional input, consolidating data, and preparing comprehensive response packages within agreed timelines, to ensure the Group meets investor and counterparty requirements: and avoids delays to transaction execution. Track and report on ESG project performance by maintaining project dashboards that consolidate milestones, risks, and budget utilization across all active ESG initiatives, to give leadership a single view of delivery status and enable timely intervention where projects fall behind schedule or exceed budget. Carry out all such other tasks as may be assigned by the Divisional Manager, Sustainability/ESG or the CCSSO, to support the broader objectives of the Group’s Sustainability function. Team Leadership and Performance Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ESG professionals by fostering a collaborative environment, setting clear expectations, and providing regular feedback, to achieve strategic goals and reinforce organizational values within the sustainability function. Support performance management and succession planning by identifying team strengths and areas for improvement, creating opportunities for growth and engagement, to build a capable leadership pipeline and ensure continuity of ESG delivery. Define and communicate clear performance goals for each team member that link individual deliverables to the Group’s ESG strategy and compliance obligations to promote ownership, reinforce alignment with organizational objectives, and build confidence in the sustainability function’s delivery capacity. Track and evaluate team performance using KPIs, dashboards, and periodic performance reviews, to identify and address underperformance early and maintain a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the ESG function. Foster knowledge-sharing and capacity building within the team by facilitating regular learning sessions on emerging ESG regulations, reporting standards, and industry best practices to ensure the team remains technically current and capable of meeting the Group’s evolving sustainability demands. Qualifications and Experience: Requirements: Minimum Qualification: A first degree in Law, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum Years of Experience: and Relevant Areas: Minimum of 12 -14 years’ post-qualification experience: gained in a large private company, public limited company, or professional firm, with significant exposure to ESG compliance and reporting. Proven experience: in: Sustainability and ESG compliance frameworks, including global standards and best practices.
