We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Health Promoter and Community Engagement Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno Employment Type: Contract Responsibitlies Facilitate development of community water use and maintenance agreements, establishment of maintenance mechanisms and transparent management of maintenance funds. Promote community participation during borehole DMR (diagnostic, maintenance and rehabilitation). Report to line manager: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints. To propose IR for HP resources needed Establish and strengthen community feedback mechanisms, including suggestion channels and regular dialogue sessions. Lead community introductory meetings to explain project objectives, borehole rehabilitation scope, and community responsibilities. In close collaboration with EH supervisor, train and mentor THE Water point Committee (WPC) members on borehole operation, preventive maintenance and accountability mechanisms. Conduct community awareness sessions on safe water practices, disease prevention, borehole protection, and community ownership. Document lessons learned, success stories, challenges, and best practices for sharing with WASH partners and stakeholders. Conduct stakeholder mapping and community entry activities, including engagement with traditional leaders, religious leaders, women groups, youth groups, and existing WASH committees. Conduct social mapping of existing water points, vulnerable locations, and high-risk areas. Monitor key indicators including borehole functionality, WPC performance, community satisfaction, and sustainability outcomes. Support formation and strengthening of inclusive WASH Committees (WASHCOMs), ensuring representation from women, youth, IDPs and other vulnerable groups. Support community-based monitoring of borehole functionality, water use, repairs, and maintenance activities. Conduct community rapid assessments through FGDs, KIIs, observations to understand community behaviours, water access challenges, usage patterns, and sustainability concerns. Conduct follow-up visits and sessions to support WTC functionality and address governance challenges. Support borehole handover processes and reinforce community ownership, roles, and responsibilities.
