This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead the financial operations of a fast-growing postgraduate university committed to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We are seeking a highly competent, visionary, and integrity-driven Bursar to join our founding team. Do you possess the leadership skills required to build robust financial systems for a world-class postgraduate institution? Key Responsibilities: Financial Leadership: Develop and implement sound financial policies, systems, and internal controls. Provide strategic leadership for the University's financial planning, budgeting, and resource management. Ensure prudent management of the University's financial resources. Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, and periodic management reports. Accounting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory financial requirements. Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Coordinate external audits and implement audit recommendations. Oversee all accounting operations, including payroll, treasury, accounts payable, receivables, and financial reporting. Revenue & Financial Sustainability: Support fundraising initiatives and financial planning for capital projects. Develop strategies to improve internally generated revenue. Advise Management on investment opportunities, financial risks, and long-term sustainability. Monitor tuition revenue, grants, endowments, donations, and other income streams. Administration & Governance: Prepare reports for Council meetings, accreditation exercises, and regulatory agencies. Supervise finance and accounts staff while promoting accountability and efficiency. Serve as the University's Chief Financial Officer and provide financial advice to the Vice-Chancellor, Governing Council, and Management. Develop financial management systems suitable for a modern, technology-driven university. Requirements: Essential: Excellent understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, taxation, payroll, auditing, and financial regulations. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications. Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or an equivalent recognized accounting certification. Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management position. Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and strategic financial management skills. A good honours Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of university financial administration. Added Advantage: Experience: implementing ERP or financial management systems. Knowledge of Nigerian University Commission (NUC) financial guidelines and university governance. Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
