Our client is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of all hospital facilities and infrastructure. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Facilities uptime and operational efficiency Preventive maintenance completion rate Staff productivity and maintenance turnaround time Regulatory compliance and audit performance Budget adherence Response time to maintenance requests Vendor performance and SLA compliance Health and safety incident rate Equipment downtime reduction Utility cost optimisation Key Responsibilities: Facilities Operations & Maintenance: Coordinate routine inspections and maintenance schedules. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for hospital buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. Ensure continuous availability and functionality of critical hospital systems, including: Backup generators and power systems Electrical systems Plumbing systems HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) Medical gas systems Water supply and treatment systems Manage repairs promptly to minimise operational downtime. Hospital Infrastructure Management: Ensure all hospital buildings, wards, theatres, laboratories, offices, and public areas are maintained to high standards. Plan renovations, expansions, and facility improvement projects. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and facility assets. Monitor facility performance and recommend upgrades where necessary. Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare facility regulations, health and safety standards, fire safety requirements, and environmental regulations. Ensure statutory inspections and certifications are completed on schedule. Lead emergency preparedness planning and coordinate fire drills and evacuation procedures. Conduct regular facility risk assessments. Vendor & Contractor Management: Verify quality of work before approving payments. Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers. Evaluate contractor performance and ensure service level agreements are met. Budget & Cost Management: Source cost-effective maintenance solutions without compromising quality or patient safety. Prepare and manage the annual facilities budget. Monitor maintenance expenditure and control operational costs. Prepare reports on maintenance costs and capital expenditure. Utilities Management: Monitor electricity, diesel, water, gas, and utility consumption. Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Ensure uninterrupted utility services across hospital operations. Team Leadership: Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and excellent service delivery. Identify training needs and ensure continuous professional development. Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, facility officers, and support staff. Allocate work schedules and monitor team performance. Asset Management: Coordinate procurement of maintenance materials and facility-related equipment. Track equipment lifecycle and replacement schedules. Maintain an up-to-date asset register for all hospital facilities and equipment. Reporting: Report maintenance activities, operational challenges, project updates, compliance status, and budget performance to management. Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections. Prepare monthly and quarterly facilities management reports. Requirements: Education: A Master's degree is an added advantage. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Facilities Management, Estate Management, or a related discipline. Prior experience: managing facilities within a hospital or healthcare environment is highly preferred. Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience: in facilities management.
