We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Head of Legal Location: Lagos Job Summary We are seeking a Head of Legal that will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigating legal risks, and providing strategic legal guidance. This role involves contract management, dispute resolution, corporate governance, and ensuring adherence to industry-specific laws in the automobile Key Responsibilities: Legal Compliance & Risk Management: Handle regulatory compliance issues related to vehicle safety, labour laws, and intellectual Monitor changes in legal and regulatory frameworks affecting the automobile industry. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international automotive laws and regulations. Develop risk management strategies to minimize legal exposure. Contract Management: Manage legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Ensure that all contractual agreements align with corporate policies and legal requirements. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, dealers, distributors, and other stakeholders. Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Handle product liability claims, warranty disputes, and intellectual property rights issues. Represent the company in legal disputes, arbitration, and court proceedings. Manage relationships with external legal counsel when needed. Corporate Governance & Ethics: Implement ethical compliance programs and training for employees. Advise senior management and the board of directors on legal matters. Ensure corporate governance policies are in place and adhered to. Intellectual Property & Regulatory Affairs: Oversee legal compliance for product safety standards and environmental regulations. Ensure adherence to automotive industry-specific compliance such as emissions standards, manufacturing laws, and import/export regulations. Protect the company’s trademarks, patents, and proprietary technology. Employment & Labour Law Compliance: Provide legal guidance on employment contracts, labour disputes, and workplace policies. Ensure compliance with labour laws, employee rights, and workplace safety regulations. Handle legal matters related to employee terminations, grievances, and workplace ethics. Requirements: Membership in a recognized bar association or legal body. LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) degree; LL.M. or MBA is an added advantage. Negotiation, problem-solving, leadership, risk assessment, and excellent communication skills.
