We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Internal Control Associate Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical Internal Control Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of internal control systems, risk-management processes, and compliance procedures across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Conduct control testing and follow up on identified weaknesses, exceptions, and corrective-action plans. Assist in reviewing and evaluating internal controls, policies, procedures, and operational processes. Promote awareness of internal control principles, ethical conduct, segregation of duties, and good governance practices. Support the preparation of internal control reports, risk registers, audit schedules, and management updates. Monitor adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and approved procedures. Follow up with process owners to ensure timely implementation of agreed corrective actions. Assist with internal control reviews, audits, process walkthroughs, and compliance assessments. Maintain accurate records of control activities, test results, findings, recommendations, and management responses. Support the identification, assessment, and documentation of operational, financial, compliance, and fraud-related risks. Collaborate with departments to recommend practical improvements that strengthen efficiency, accountability, and risk mitigation. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial, operational, and organizational information. Requirements: High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Internal Auditing, Risk Management, or a related field. Professional certification or progress toward certification in Internal Audit, Accounting, Risk Management, or Compliance is an advantage. Good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or control gaps. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments. Basic understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, audit procedures, compliance, and corporate governance. Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
