The Head of Marketing Western Africa leads the development and execution of marketing strategies that drive brand leadership, market growth and customer adoption across Sun King’s range of products – from off-grid solar solutions, mobile phones, clean cooking solutions and upcoming lines of business. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, this role will translate the company’s mission of energy access and affordable products into compelling, data-driven, customer-centric campaigns that accelerate sales and build long-term brand trust in Western Africa. The role combines strategic leadership, deep understanding of consumer behavior, and good commercial acumen to ensure marketing directly fuels business growth and impact. What you will be expected to do Strategic Marketing Leadership: Partner with the VP of Marketing to design and execute the global marketing strategy across Western Africa (Nigeria, Togo, Cameroon, Benin). Align marketing object with commercial sales leadership ensuring measurable contribution to business performance. Demonstration of customer segmentation and targeted appropriate marketing strategies to deliver the right quality of customer. Champion customer and market insights to shape campaigns, product design, inform pricing initiatives and communication strategies. Brand Positioning & Campaign Messaging: Strengthen the company’s position as a trusted, premium provider of clean energy and solar technology. Working closely with the global communication & content team, design integrated brand campaigns that communicate both functional product 1 value (affordability, durability, innovation) and emotional value (powering access to lives, empowerment, sustainability, opportunity). Incorporate storytelling to create an emotional brand sentiment. Be a brand champion and execute a standard brand visual identity across al channels — retail, digital and community-level activation. Go-to-Market (GTM) & Channel Enablement: Develop GTM strategies for new product launches and market entries. Collaborate with sales to build strong agent and customer marketing programs. Support last-mile sales enablement with localized materials, brand visibility and consumer education: initiatives. Digital & Performance Marketing: Lead digital transformation of the marketing function, building strong performance marketing, CRM, and data analytics capabilities. Work with the digital content team to drive direct-to-customer engagement through digital channels where applicable. Use analytics to measure customer engagement, lead generation, and conversion effectiveness. Team Leadership & Development: A proven track record of leading high performance teams to deliver marketing campaigns. Lead, mentor, and develop regional and functional marketing teams & empower them to aspire to be leaders of the future. Foster a high-performance, purpose-driven culture rooted in collaboration and innovation. Manage agency partnerships, ensuring excellence in creative output and campaign efficiency. You might be a strong candidate if you have Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA preferred. 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with 5+ in a leadership capacity. Proven experience: in renewable energy, off-grid solar, FMCG, or durable goods targeting base-of-pyramid consumers is a bonus. Good understanding of emerging-market consumer behavior and last-mile distribution dynamics. Experience: building and managing integrated marketing campaigns (digital, ATL/BTL, and community-based). Working experience: across different countries will be a bonus. Solid analytical and financial acumen — comfortable managing budgets and interpreting performance data. Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural teams and agencies across multiple countries.
