Able to lift equipment weighing over 45 lbs. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to place, connect and activate telephone devices. Install, terminate, label and test cabling related to telecom circuit demarcation extensions. Troubleshoot, operate and maintain equipment during field dispatches. Troubleshoot, operate, repair and maintain medium complexity equipment. Perform the work professionally. Can provide training to end users and other techs on equipment. Can read blueprints and drawings. Can handle low complexity installs, moves, repairs, uninstalls, site survey, triage, vendor escort, rack and stack equipment, install/swap out network equipment including switches and routers. Requirements: 5–9 years experience: in network support or a similar role. Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP. Experience: with Cisco or similar networking equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic understanding of Windows server environments and Active Directory is an advantage. Certifications related to equipment supported for break fix. Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are an advantage. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems. Engineer pre-requisites/Tools needed The engineer will need: laptop running Microsoft Operating system (minimum Windows 11 but subject to change Networking support knowledge obtained in the field and appropriate OEM device specific training and certification needed to work on the OEM products. Serial Port (either built-in to the laptop or USB adapter) Console Cable Engineering tool kit. A terminal emulator program.
