We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Chemistry / Biology Tutor Location: Mberi, Imo Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities: Teaching and Lesson Delivery: Integrate practical activities, demonstrations, experiments, and relevant technology into lessons. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, tests, and examinations. Explain scientific concepts clearly and use appropriate teaching methods to meet different learning needs. Prepare and deliver well-structured Biology and Chemistry lessons in line with the school curriculum. Laboratory and Practical Activities: Properly use, maintain, and account for laboratory equipment and materials. Report damaged, missing, or insufficient laboratory materials to management. Conduct and supervise Biology and Chemistry practicals. Ensure students follow laboratory safety rules and procedures. Assessment and Academic Progress: Set, administer, mark, and record classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations. Prepare students adequately for external examinations such as WAEC and NECO. Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate assistance. Monitor students’ academic performance and provide constructive feedback. Classroom Management: Address behavioural and academic concerns appropriately and report serious issues to the relevant school authority. Maintain discipline and a conducive learning environment. Establish clear classroom rules and ensure students comply with school policies. Encourage students to participate actively in lessons and practical activities. Student Development: Promote interest in science-related careers and further education. Encourage students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, observation, and scientific reasoning skills. Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students. Administrative Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with other teachers, the Head of Department, parents, and school management. Attend staff meetings, departmental meetings, trainings, and other school programmes. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment results, lesson plans, and students’ academic progress. Participate in school activities, excursions, science fairs, clubs, and other extracurricular programmes when required. Professional Conduct: Continuously improve teaching skills through professional development and training. Follow all school rules, policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements.
