This role oversees the full receiving process, from verifying shipments to coordinating with cross-functional teams, while driving productivity, safety, and team performance within the inbound area. The Inbound Team Lead will supervise and lead a team of inbound operators at Jumia, ensuring the efficient, accurate receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming goods and materials. What You Will Be Doing Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations to team members, recognizing achievements, addressing performance issues, and identifying opportunities for development and growth. Conduct regular inspections of inbound areas and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, cleanliness, and organization, and addressing any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly. Train new team members on inbound processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills required to perform their duties effectively. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and documentation, reconciling inventory discrepancies, and conducting cycle counts and physical inventories as needed. Supervise and lead a team of inbound operators, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure efficient and accurate receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming goods and materials. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the team, promoting open communication, teamwork, and accountability for results. Oversee the receiving process for incoming shipments, including verifying quantities, inspecting items for damage or discrepancies, and recording information accurately in inventory systems. Assign tasks and responsibilities: to team members, ensuring equitable distribution of workload and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Operations, to prioritize receiving activities, resolve discrepancies, and process returns in a timely manner. Monitor workflow and productivity levels within the inbound area, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing measures to optimize performance and efficiency. What We Are Looking For Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently; certification or training in equipment operation is a plus. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support operational needs. Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technology tools for inventory management and reporting. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven experience: in warehouse operations, inbound receiving, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Candidate must be based in Abuja. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, management, and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Strong knowledge of inbound receiving processes, including receiving, inspection, and inventory management, preferably in a fast-paced distribution or fulfillment center environment. Must have NYSC certificate or possess a valid exemption letter.
