The Instrumentation and Automation Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of instrumentation, control, and automation systems across oil and gas operations. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Ensure alignment with project requirements, operational standards, and regulatory codes. Provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and contractors. Lead instrumentation and automation activities for upstream, midstream, or downstream oil and gas facilities. Review and approve instrumentation and automation designs, specifications, and technical deliverables. Instrumentation Systems: Oversee installation, calibration, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, analyzers, control valves, and shutdown devices. Troubleshoot instrumentation faults and ensure minimal downtime. Review loop drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, cause and effect charts, and instrument index. Automation and Control Systems: Lead work on PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS, and related control systems. Support programming, configuration, testing, and integration of automation systems. Coordinate software backup, version control, and change management activities. Ensure cybersecurity, reliability, and system integrity for control networks. Safety and Compliance: Promote safe working practices and participate in incident investigations related to instrumentation or control failures. Ensure instrumentation and automation systems comply with international standards such as IEC, ISA, API, and applicable local regulations. Support HAZOP, SIL, SAT, FAT, and risk assessment activities. Project and Maintenance Support Prepare technical documents including scopes of work, datasheets, method statements, and commissioning procedures. Monitor asset performance and implement reliability improvements and preventive maintenance strategies. Coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and vendors to resolve technical issues. Support capital projects, brownfield modifications, and plant upgrades from concept through commissioning. Team and Vendor Management: Supervise contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams during execution and commissioning. Provide training and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
