We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Utility Operator Location: Makun, Ogun Summary The Utility Operator is responsible for the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of plant utilities—specifically industrial boilers, air compressors, and related auxiliary systems—to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities: Preventive & Routine Maintenance: Carry out routine servicing, including cleaning filters, lubricating moving parts, inspecting valves/gaskets, and replacing worn seals. Support the central maintenance team during major overhauls or equipment breakdowns. Water & Chemical Treatment: Perform water quality testing for boiler feed water, cooling towers, and condensate systems. Douse and adjust chemical treatments to prevent scaling, fouling, and internal corrosion. Routine Inspections & Logs: Conduct periodic rounds across utility areas, log operational parameters hourly, and identify abnormal noise, vibration, or leaks. EHS Compliance: Adhere strictly to plant safety protocols, wear required PPE, maintain clean work areas, and follow regulatory guidelines for pressure vessel operations. System Troubleshooting & Safety: Monitor automatic cutoff controls, safety relief valves, and alarm panels. Instantly troubleshoot system deviations, instrument air drops, or pressure spikes to prevent emergency shutdowns. Equipment Operations & Monitoring: Start up, operate, monitor, and safely shut down high/low-pressure steam boilers, air compressors, water treatment systems, and chillers. Regularly check pressure, temperature, water level, and flow gauges. Job Requirements: Skills: Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities, familiarity with boiler control panels, knowledge of water treatment chemistry, and understanding of pneumatic piping systems. Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience: operating boilers, air compressors, and utility equipment within a manufacturing or FMCG plant. Education: OND, HND, or Trade Test / Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plant Engineering.
