We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Project Electrical Engineer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The role ensures that all electrical activities are executed safely, efficiently, within approved specifications, budget, and project timelines, while complying with applicable engineering standards, statutory requirements, and company policies. The Project Electrical Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and works on construction projects. Key Responsibilities: Project Planning & Execution: Supervise the execution of electrical works, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, cabling, containment, generators, transformers, and other electrical systems. Coordinate electrical activities with civil, structural, mechanical, architectural, and other project teams. Review electrical drawings, designs, specifications, BOQs, method statements, and project requirements. Ensure electrical works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards. Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned electrical works. Plan and coordinate electrical installation activities in line with the approved project programme. Identify potential project constraints and recommend appropriate solutions. Technical Supervision: Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical proposals, and installation details. Ensure proper installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems. Troubleshoot electrical problems and provide technical solutions. Inspect electrical installations and verify compliance with approved designs and specifications. Conduct inspections and ensure proper testing of electrical installations before handover. Supervise contractors, subcontractors, technicians, electricians, and other electrical personnel. Ensure that all electrical materials and equipment used on site meet approved technical specifications. Quality Assurance & Control: Maintain proper documentation of inspections, tests, approvals, and commissioning activities. Conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Implement quality control procedures for electrical works. Identify defects, non-conformities, and deviations and ensure timely corrective actions. Liaise with the QA/QC team to ensure electrical works meet project quality standards. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Participate in toolbox meetings, safety inspections, and risk assessments. Enforce safe working practices among electrical personnel and subcontractors. Promote a strong safety culture across all electrical activities. Ensure appropriate isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work, and electrical safety procedures are followed. Immediately report electrical hazards, incidents, and unsafe practices. Ensure all electrical activities comply with project HSE requirements: and applicable regulations. Materials & Resource Management: Monitor the availability and proper utilisation of electrical materials, tools, and equipment. Inspect delivered electrical materials and equipment to ensure compliance with approved specifications. Coordinate with Procurement and Stores teams to ensure timely availability of required materials. Minimise material wastage and prevent misuse or loss of project resources. Prepare and review electrical material requirements: based on project scope and programme. Project Documentation & Reporting: Provide technical updates and progress reports to the Project Manager. Prepare and review site records, RFIs, inspection requests, snag lists, and as-built documentation. Track electrical work progress against the approved programme. Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, commissioning, drawings, and technical submissions. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on electrical activities and project progress. Maintain proper documentation for project handover and close-out. Stakeholder & Contractor Management: Review contractors' work programmes and provide technical input where required. Monitor the performance of electrical subcontractors and ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Resolve technical issues and coordinate approvals with relevant stakeholders. Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders. Attend project coordination and technical meetings as required. Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Supervise testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment. Develop and monitor electrical testing and commissioning plans. Coordinate preparation of as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranties, test certificates, and other handover documents. Ensure all defects and outstanding works are resolved before handover. Support project close-out and final commissioning activities. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Contractor/subcontractor performance and compliance. Compliance with project HSE requirements: and zero major electrical safety incidents. Successful completion of electrical system testing and commissioning. Timely closure of snags, non-conformities, and outstanding electrical works. Timely completion of inspections, testing, and commissioning. Client/consultant satisfaction with electrical works. Compliance with approved electrical drawings and specifications. Percentage of electrical works completed within approved project schedule. Timely submission of electrical reports and project documentation. Material utilisation and control against approved budgets. Percentage reduction in electrical defects and rework. Qualifications & Experience: Professional certification/membership such as COREN, NSE, or other relevant professional body is an added advantage. Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience: in electrical engineering within the construction industry. Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering/design software. Proven experience: in building, infrastructure, industrial, commercial, or residential construction projects. Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and construction practices. Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, standards, and HSE requirements. Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
