The ideal candidate should have strong laboratory skills, a thorough understanding of microbiological principles, and the ability to maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Collect, prepare, culture, and examine biological and environmental samples. Document test results, observations, and laboratory activities accurately. Conduct microbiological testing and analysis of samples using appropriate laboratory procedures. Support quality control and quality assurance activities within the organization. Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and testing conditions. Participate in environmental monitoring, water quality testing, food safety testing, or other microbiological assessments where applicable. Prepare technical reports and communicate laboratory findings to management and relevant departments. Ensure laboratory procedures are conducted in accordance with approved standards and protocols. Maintain proper laboratory hygiene, sterilization, and biosafety procedures. Perform microbial identification, enumeration, and contamination testing. Investigate contamination, microbial growth, and quality-related issues and recommend corrective actions. Stay updated on relevant laboratory standards, regulatory requirements, and microbiological practices. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory samples and biological materials. Requirements: Good understanding of laboratory safety and quality management procedures. Minimum of 2–4 years' relevant experience: in microbiology, laboratory testing, quality control, food production, pharmaceuticals, environmental services, or a related industry. Professional certification or relevant industry experience: is an added advantage. Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory documentation systems. Practical experience: with laboratory equipment and microbiological techniques. Bachelor's Degree / HND in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
