We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Production Manager Location: Plateau Employment Type: Full-time Position Summary The role is accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations while achieving production targets, maintaining product quality standards, optimizing resource utilization, and driving continuous operational improvement. The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all mineral processing and production activities at the company's Jos processing facility. The successful candidate will provide leadership to production teams, ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements, and support the company's ongoing expansion of processing capacity through improved plant performance and operational excellence. Key Responsibilties Production Operations Management: Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily mineral processing and production activities to achieve production targets. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve productivity. Ensure efficient utilization of plant equipment, manpower, raw materials, and consumables. Ensure adherence to approved production schedules and operational plans. Monitor production processes and plant performance to maximize throughput and operational efficiency. Oversee shift operations and ensure continuity of production activities. Plant Performance & Process Optimization: Monitor key production metrics, including throughput, recovery rates, plant utilization, and processing efficiency. Lead initiatives aimed at improving production output, reducing waste, and optimizing resource utilization. Collaborate with technical and maintenance teams to improve plant reliability and performance. Support the integration and efficient utilization of newly installed processing equipment. Evaluate production data and operational reports to identify opportunities for process improvement. Leadership & People Management: Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement. Establish clear performance expectations and monitor team performance. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Lead, supervise, and develop production personnel, operators, and supervisors. Conduct regular coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Maintain accurate production and quality records. Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Work closely with laboratory and quality control personnel to maintain product consistency. Ensure all processed minerals meet required quality specifications and customer requirements. Health, Safety & Environmental Management: Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective measures where required. Ensure compliance with mining, environmental, and government regulations. Conduct regular workplace inspections and ensure safe operating practices. Promote a strong safety culture throughout the production department. Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety, Environment, and regulatory requirements. Maintenance Coordination: Monitor equipment availability and minimize production downtime. Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs. Participate in planning shutdowns and major maintenance activities. Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure optimal equipment performance. Cost Control & Resource Management: Support budget preparation and cost optimization initiatives. Implement measures to reduce operational waste and control production costs. Monitor consumption of raw materials, consumables, fuel, spare parts, and utilities. Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of production resources. Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Analyse production trends and operational performance indicators. Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Track and report departmental KPIs. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports. Provide recommendations to management on operational improvements and production strategies. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Achievement of production volume targets. Timeliness and accuracy of production reporting. Plant throughput and operational efficiency. Qualifications Professional certifications in Operations Management, Production Management, HSE, Project Management, or related fields will be an added advantage. Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Proven experience: managing production teams and achieving operational targets. Minimum of 7 years' experience: in mineral processing, mining operations, beneficiation plants, quarry operations, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments. Demonstrated experience: in process optimization and operational efficiency improvement. Experience: working in mineral processing or mining-related operations is strongly preferred. Knowledge & Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and production reporting tools. Knowledge of equipment performance monitoring and plant efficiency optimization. Understanding of production planning, process control, and operational management. Understanding of quality management systems and quality assurance practices. Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards applicable to mining and industrial operations. Strong knowledge of mineral processing operations and beneficiation processes.
