Medical Laboratory Scientist – Chemical Pathology Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 2 years Location Edo City Benin Job Field Medical / Healthcare Responsibilities: Perform routine and specialized chemical pathology investigations in accordance with laboratory procedures. Conduct analysis of blood, urine, and other biological specimens using approved laboratory methods. Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analyzers. Ensure proper specimen collection, identification, processing, storage, and disposal. Review and validate laboratory results before release. Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation. Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes. Monitor reagents, consumables, and equipment to ensure adequate availability and functionality. Adhere strictly to laboratory safety, infection prevention, and quality management standards. Report critical or abnormal results promptly to the appropriate clinician. Participate in equipment maintenance, inventory control, and laboratory audits. Assist with the implementation and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory results. Participate in continuous professional development and departmental training. Perform any other duties assigned by the Laboratory Manager or designated supervisor. Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) from a recognized institution. Must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). Possession of a valid practising licence. Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience: in a clinical laboratory setting. Experience: in Chemical Pathology will be an added advantage. Experience: working with automated chemistry analyzers is preferred. Skills: Good knowledge of chemical pathology procedures and laboratory practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to operate automated and semi-automated laboratory analyzers. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Good documentation and record-keeping skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in the use of laboratory information systems and basic computer applications. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Other Requirements: Valid MLSCN practising licence. Strong commitment to laboratory quality, patient safety, and professional ethics.
