Read more about this company Laboratory Supervisor Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 years Location Ondo Job Field Medical / Healthcare , NGO/Non-Profit , Science TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct a set of laboratory tests on patient samples, ensuring accuracy, precision, and strict adherence to standard protocols. These tests will include but are not limited to nucleic acid extraction, polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), blood biochemistry and haematology. Reception of biological samples according to acceptable safety guidelines. Organize the production of sample aliquots and of their temporary storage on site in the biobank according to study specifications. Collaborate effectively with colleagues in analysis of RT-PCR test results to achieve research goals and objectives. Adhere to quality control procedures to ensure the reliability and reproducibility of diagnostic and study-related results. Perform the scheduled maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment according to manufacturer’s specification as well as timely documentation. Timely documentation of test results performed with compliance to GCP guidelines. Uploading of test results to the appropriate platform for prompt decision making by the medical team. Keep organized the data collection system of laboratory results and all information generated from the analysis done. Perform Inventory of laboratory items and consumables in the VHF Laboratory. Supervise the routine monitoring and record the temperature of the laboratory space, fridges and freezers, documenting any alarms triggered by the temperature monitoring system promptly. Adhere to safety protocols to minimize the risk while handling infectious materials and biohazardous substances. Ensure proper sample and biological waste disposal according to acceptable safety standards. Supervise the preparation of samples for pickups and shipments, ensuring proper packaging and compliance with transportation regulations. Report all relevant information linked to the activity in the laboratory to the line manager, especially the loss/damage of laboratory equipment. Undertake additional duties as assigned to meet the specific needs of the clinical trial and VHF Laboratory. REQUIREMENT AND SKILLS Bachelor\'s degree in Medical Laboratory Science BMLS - (with specialization and experience: on Haematology & BGS, Chemical Pathology and Medical Microbiology Specialties) Proven research experience: in a laboratory setting. Strong understanding of scientific principles and laboratory techniques Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with laboratory software and instrumentation Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Registered with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. Strong knowledge of PCR and PCR-related techniques and blood processing is necessary. Working experiences in Ebola or Lassa Fever outbreak or other viral hemorrhagic fevers will be appreciated. Desirable working experience: with International medical NGO’s in developing countries. Literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet) Well organized with good negotiation and communication skill Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team, in emergency and under pressure, to manage stress easily and result oriented.
