The ideal candidate should have practical accounting experience, preferably within the transport, logistics, haulage, or another cash-intensive industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented, disciplined, and highly accountable Accountant to join its team in Lagos. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for: Ensuring that all monies collected from ticket sales, cargo, and other revenue streams are accurately accounted for and paid into the Company’s designated bank accounts. Assisting with bank reconciliations and the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports. Monitoring terminal operations to help maintain a fraud-free and financially accountable environment. Conducting daily cash reconciliation and comparing cash collections with tickets issued, sales records, and other revenue reports. Maintaining accurate accounting records using QuickBooks and other approved accounting systems. Ensuring strict compliance with internal financial controls and accounting procedures. Monitoring daily financial activities at assigned terminals and ensuring strict compliance with the Company’s accounting and financial policies. Working closely with the Finance team and Terminal Management to improve financial controls and operational accountability. Carrying out other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned. Investigating discrepancies, shortages, and unusual transactions and escalating findings promptly to Management. Reconciling cash collections, bank deposits, accounts receivable, petty cash, and other relevant accounts. Maintaining proper documentation and supporting records for all financial transactions. Following up with Terminal Managers and other relevant personnel to resolve discrepancies and recover outstanding cash. Identifying, preventing, and reporting revenue leakages, financial irregularities, and suspicious transactions. Ensuring timely and accurate lodgement of all cash collected into the Company’s accounts. Supporting Management with relevant financial information and reports for decision-making. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should have: Experience: in a transport, logistics, haulage, courier, or other cash-intensive business will be a strong advantage. The ability to identify discrepancies, investigate financial irregularities, and prevent revenue leakages. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. A high level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Previous experience: working as an Accountant, or in a similar finance role. A B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. The ability to work independently and follow up effectively with different departments and operational staff. Excellent numerical, analytical, and reconciliation skills. Professional accounting qualifications are an advantage but not compulsory. Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software. Practical experience: in cash management, revenue reconciliation, bank lodgements, and financial controls.
