We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Staff Engineer, Core Location: Lekki, Lagos The Role You will touch the actual money flows; compromising on experience: and reliability is not an option. You will also be responsible for adding robust edge-case routing logic for existing payment methods. We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to maintain, optimize, and extend our existing core APIs (Ledger, Acquiring, Payouts, Identity). As a distributed systems expert and database optimization veteran, your primary goal will be ensuring zero-downtime, idempotency, and scaling the database architecture for massive launches. Responsibilities: include but are not limited to Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional technical teams to support mission-critical payment infrastructure. Develop complex routing logic for payment methods to seamlessly handle edge cases Scale and optimize database architecture to support significant transaction volumes and product launches Architect, maintain, and optimize core backend APIs handling Ledgers, Acquiring, Payouts, and Identity Lead technical direction and mentor senior engineers within the Core Systems team Design and implement bulletproof idempotency mechanisms for money flows Ensure high availability and zero-downtime across critical financial systems Required competency and skillset to be a waver Veteran-level experience: in database optimization, query performance tuning, and schema design at scale Deep understanding of transaction management, idempotency, and data integrity Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Expert-level knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to system reliability and security.
