The ideal candidate will play a key role in minimizing legal, operational, and reputational risks while promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organization. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our team in Agbara, Ogun State. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the plant operates in full compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and internal company requirements. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and facilitate timely statutory filings, licence renewals, permit applications, and regulatory submissions. Investigate compliance-related issues and recommend preventive and corrective measures. Serve as the primary point of contact with government agencies and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to: National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), where applicable Fire Service and other relevant regulatory authorities Maintain proper documentation relating to inspections, regulatory visits, correspondence, and compliance activities. Perform other compliance-related duties as assigned by management. Track and ensure timely closure of regulatory observations, audit findings, and compliance action plans. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and coordinating responses to audit findings. Develop, implement, and monitor compliance checklists to ensure adherence to statutory and internal policy requirements. Coordinate compliance awareness programs and educate employees on regulatory obligations and company policies. Prepare and present periodic compliance reports to management. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry standards. Maintain up-to-date compliance registers, statutory records, licences, permits, and certifications. Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits to identify potential gaps and recommend corrective actions. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements: and advise management and relevant departments on potential business impacts. Collaborate with HR, Finance, Operations, Legal, Procurement, HSE, and other departments to ensure regulatory compliance across all business functions. Qualifications Professional certification in Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Corporate Governance, or related fields will be an added advantage. Membership of relevant professional bodies is desirable. Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Law, Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Political Science, Industrial Relations, or any related discipline. Experience: Prior experience: within a manufacturing or chemical industry environment is highly preferred. Experience: liaising directly with government agencies and regulatory bodies is a significant advantage. 5-10 years' relevant experience: in Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Regulatory Affairs, or Legal Compliance. Required Skills & Competencies: High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Sound knowledge of compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and regulatory reporting methodologies. Strong knowledge of Nigerian statutory and regulatory requirements. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent understanding of corporate governance principles and compliance frameworks. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
