We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Compliance Accountant Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose / Mission The role is expected to actively participate in compliance activities, month-end close, preparing, or reviewing all monthly reconciliations. The Accountant will play a key role on the finance and accounting team. The accountant will report directly to the Tax coordinator and work closely with all other departments. Key Responsibilities: Participate in annual external audits from a compliance standpoint and collaborate with other team members in other areas as necessary. Review weekly payment schedules to ensure accurate taxes have been applied. Process and obtain all regulatory certificates, e.g. TCC, etc. Participate actively in desk reviews and tax audits to ensure prompt closure. Monitor the insurance tracker to ensure zero risk exposure at every point in time through prompt policy renewals, new asset insurance cover and extension of cover with adequate sum insured. Reconcile all compliance related general ledgers and propose journals for adjustment postings (monthly). Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including personal and company income tax, sales tax, withholding tax, and other relevant taxes. Ensure 0% fines because of non-compliance with statutory obligations Preparation of tax provisions and financial statements to comply with accounting standards. Participate in all compliance related projects by carrying out assigned tasks. Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations and adapt to the organization's processes and strategies accordingly. Effectively manage the relationships with external stakeholders within your purview (tax consultants, insurance brokers, vendors, auditors, etc). Qualifications Relevant professional certifications (ACA, ACCA, CFA, etc.) Preferred. HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any related qualification. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience: in a similar role. Language(s): English. Knowledge and skills: Strong experience: in income statements and balance sheet analysis. Demonstrated resourcefulness in proposing new ways of driving accounting efficiency. Computer and Excel skills, and accounting systems (preferably Odoo). Demonstration of integrity and honesty.
