We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: AC Technician Location: Victoria Island, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The role ensures that all cooling and refrigeration equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support uninterrupted hotel operations and guest comfort. The AC Technician / Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of the hotel’s air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. Key Responsibilities: Air-Conditioning Maintenance: Carry out preventive maintenance according to the hotel’s maintenance schedule. Check refrigerant levels and identify leaks. Monitor the performance and efficiency of AC systems. Clean and replace filters, coils, drain lines, and other components as required. Respond promptly to AC breakdowns and guest-room maintenance requests. Inspect, service, maintain, and repair air-conditioning units and systems throughout the hotel. Diagnose and resolve faults in split units, cassette units, package units, VRF/VRV systems, and other HVAC equipment where applicable. Refrigeration & Cold Equipment: Respond promptly to breakdowns affecting Food & Beverage and kitchen operations. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults. Monitor temperatures and ensure refrigeration equipment operates within required temperature ranges. Maintain and repair refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, cold rooms, and other refrigeration equipment. Check compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, fans, and related components. Preventive Maintenance: Recommend replacement or repair of faulty equipment when necessary. Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed. Conduct routine inspections of AC and refrigeration equipment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, parts replaced, and equipment condition. Identify potential faults before they result in equipment failure. Repairs & Troubleshooting: Escalate major technical issues requiring specialist intervention to the Chief Engineer/Engineering Manager. Diagnose faults systematically and carry out appropriate repairs. Test repaired equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly before returning it to service. Replace defective parts and components when required. Attend to maintenance requests and breakdowns promptly. Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean and safe work area after completing maintenance activities. Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and safely. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when carrying out maintenance work. Follow all hotel health, safety, and environmental procedures. Report unsafe conditions, hazards, leaks, or equipment defects immediately. Handle refrigerants and electrical components safely and in accordance with applicable procedures. Guest & Departmental Support: Work closely with Food & Beverage and Kitchen teams to ensure refrigeration equipment remains operational. Coordinate with Front Office and Housekeeping regarding AC-related guest complaints. Minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations while carrying out maintenance work. Respond professionally to guest-related maintenance requests. Communicate the status of repairs and expected completion times to relevant departments. Qualifications & Experience: Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and refrigerants. Ability to read and understand basic technical diagrams and equipment manuals. Hotel, commercial building, restaurant, or hospitality experience: is an advantage. Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and respond to emergency breakdowns when required. Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience: as an AC Technician, Refrigeration Technician, HVAC Technician, or similar role. Hands-on experience: in servicing and repairing air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. Minimum of an OND, Technical Certificate, Trade Test Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
