Read more about this company Business Development Officer – Institutional Sales (Telecom) Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 4 - 6 years Location Lagos Job Field Sales and Business Development Job Purpose The Business Development Officer – Institutional Sales (Telecom) is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, developing, and closing new institutional telecommunications opportunities. The role focuses on expanding the enterprise and institutional client base, building strategic relationships, and promoting telecom products and services (such as fibre connectivity, leased lines, MPLS, cloud solutions, managed network services, and datacentre offerings) to achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities: Client Acquisition & Relationship Management: Identify, prospect, and acquire new institutional clients across key verticals including banks, financial institutions, government agencies, oil & gas companies, manufacturing firms, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and large enterprises. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with C-level executives, IT managers, procurement heads, and business decision-makers within corporate and institutional accounts. Serve as the primary point of contact for institutional clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and account growth through upselling and cross-selling of telecom solutions. Sales Strategy & Market Development: Develop and implement market penetration strategies to increase broadband adoption, fibre footprint utilisation, and enterprise connectivity revenue. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities, emerging customer needs, industry trends, and competitive positioning within the Nigerian telecom sector. Own assigned industry verticals and develop account strategies to drive sustainable revenue growth and market share expansion. Proposals, Presentations & Deal Closure: Prepare and deliver compelling client presentations, solution demonstrations, and investment proposals tailored to institutional clients' connectivity, bandwidth, and digital infrastructure needs. Lead negotiations, structure commercial offers, and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and tenders from institutional clients. Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales opportunities to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets. Internal Collaboration & Solution Development: Collaborate with technical, presales, network operations, and product teams to develop client-focused telecom solutions (e.g., dedicated internet access, SD-WAN, cloud connectivity, colocation, managed services). Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely order fulfillment, network readiness, service delivery, and customer onboarding. Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, and operations teams to support quote submissions, contract execution, and compliance with internal approval processes. Reporting, CRM & Industry Representation: Maintain accurate client records, sales pipeline, and market intelligence in the company's CRM system. Prepare periodic business development reports, sales forecasts, and pipeline updates for leadership review. Represent the organization at industry events, telecom conferences, networking engagements, and stakeholder meetings to enhance brand visibility and generate leads. Monitor competitors, current ISP providers, fibre availability, planned developments, and revenue opportunities to inform strategy and maintain competitive advantage. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Must B.Sc. Second Class Upper/HND-Upper Creditin Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience: 4 – 6 years' experience: in business development, institutional sales, or enterprise B2B sales, preferably within the telecommunications, ISP, fibre broadband, or technology infrastructure industry. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in institutional/enterprise sales within the Nigerian telecom market. Strong understanding of telecom products and services including fibre optics, leased lines, MPLS, IP-VPN, cloud solutions, managed network services, and datacentre offerings. Experience: managing complex sales cycles, responding to RFPs/tenders, and negotiating high-value contracts with institutional clients. Skills & Competencies: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to engage C-level executives and senior decision-makers. Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research, competitor analysis, and financial modelling for business cases. Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Office Suite. Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to travel within Nigeria as required for client meetings, site surveys, and industry events.
