We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Dispatcher Location: Apapa, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Dispatcher is responsible for the centralized deployment, monitoring, and control of all Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE), including distributions of containers planned for loading on vessels across the terminal during assigned shifts. The role functions as a real-time coordination hub, working closely with Yard Coordinators, Marine & Vessel Coordinators, Equipment Control, and Plant teams to ensure optimal equipment allocation, minimal idle time, and seamless execution of vessel and yard. Roles and Responsibilities: Equipment Deployment and Allocation: Continuously adjust equipment deployment in response to real-time operational demands Take full responsibility for deployment and reallocation of all equipment per shift (RTGs, MHCs, Terminal Trucks, Reach Stackers, etc.) Ensure quick replacement or redistribution of equipment in case of faultsEnsure alignment between yard activities and vessel operations for seamless cargo flow Ensure optimal distribution of equipment based on operational priorities (vessel, yard, gate) Monitoring and Control: Track equipment productivity, utilization, and movement across the terminal Initiate immediate corrective actions to optimize operational performance. Monitor live operations using Terminal Operating System (TOS) and Control Room systems Identify idle equipment, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies in real time TOS Utilization & Data Integrity: Support achievement of vessel productivity and yard performance targets Use TOS to monitor job execution, equipment allocation, and operational progress Support assignment and reassignment of jobs in coordination with Control Room and Planning teams Ensure accuracy of operational data related to equipment deployment and movements Communication and Reporting: Keep accurate records of deployment decisions, changes, and operational issues Support preparation of shift reports on equipment utilization and operational performance Maintain real-time communication with all operational stakeholders Other Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager. Minimum Educational Qualifications / Certifications / Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience: in terminal operations, dispatch, yard, or control room functions Experience: in equipment coordination is an advantage.
