We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Porter Location: Victoria Island, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The role supports the Front Office team in creating a warm and welcoming guest experience: while maintaining high standards of service, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. The Porter is responsible for providing efficient and courteous assistance to guests with their luggage and other needs during arrival, stay, and departure. Key Responsibilities: Guest Arrival & Departure: Transport guests’ luggage safely to and from guest rooms. Escort guests to their rooms and explain relevant room features and hotel facilities. Handle guest luggage carefully and ensure it is properly identified and stored when required. Assist departing guests with luggage and transportation arrangements. Welcome and acknowledge guests warmly upon arrival. Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage from vehicles. Guest Assistance: Assist guests with directions and provide basic information about hotel facilities, services, and operating hours. Provide support to guests with special requirements: where appropriate. Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests. Assist guests with transportation arrangements, taxis, and other local transportation needs. Maintain a friendly, professional, and helpful attitude at all times. Luggage & Storage: Report any damaged, missing, or unattended luggage immediately to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain proper control and accurate records of stored luggage. Ensure luggage is tagged and handled according to hotel procedures. Maintain the luggage storage area in a clean, organized, and secure condition. Front Office Support: Communicate guest requests and concerns promptly to the relevant department. Maintain awareness of VIPs, special occasions, and other important guest information. Assist with guest deliveries, messages, packages, and other items. Assist with room moves and other guest-related operational activities. Support Guest Service Agents and other Front Office colleagues as required. Hotel Appearance & Service Standards: Maintain a professional appearance and comply with hotel grooming standards. Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards. Ensure the entrance, lobby, driveway, and luggage areas are clean, neat, and welcoming. Protect guest privacy and confidentiality at all times. Assist in maintaining an orderly and safe hotel entrance. Safety & Security: Handle guest belongings responsibly and with care. Ensure luggage and guest belongings are never left unattended or unsecured. Report suspicious activities, safety hazards, damaged property, or security concerns immediately. Follow all emergency, fire, health, and safety procedures. Qualifications & Experience: Physically capable of handling and transporting guest luggage safely. Good knowledge of the hotel and its facilities. Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Previous experience: in a hotel, hospitality, customer service, or similar guest-facing role is an advantage. Minimum of an SSCE/OND or equivalent qualification. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact confidently and professionally with guests.
