Our Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) division manages a growing portfolio of residential estates, institutional buildings, industrial parks, and road infrastructure projects across multiple states. We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Safety Manager Location: Abuja (FCT) Key Responsibilities: HSE Management System & Compliance: Maintain required HSE records, registers, procedures and documentation. Conduct regular HSE compliance inspections and audits. Implement and monitor the Company’s HSE policies, procedures and approved safety plans across projects and offices. Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian HSE legislation, client requirements: and relevant ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 principles. Advise Management and project teams on HSE requirements: and corrective actions. Expected Result: Construction activities are carried out in accordance with the Company’s HSE management system, applicable laws, ISO requirements: and project standards. Site Safety Management & Risk Control: Expected Result: Construction activities are properly risk-assessed and conducted in a safe manner, with hazards controlled before they result in incidents. Identify hazards and assess risks associated with construction activities. Inspect scaffolding, excavation, lifting operations, work at height, electrical works, plant, machinery and other high-risk activities. Ensure Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared and implemented for high-risk activities. Stop or recommend suspension of unsafe work where there is an immediate risk to life, property or the environment. Monitor compliance with safe systems of work, Permit-to-Work requirements: and site safety rules. Ensure appropriate PPE and safety controls are available and properly used. Safety Training, Communication & Competence: Identify HSE competency and training gaps and recommend appropriate training. Promote safety awareness and a proactive safety culture across projects. Coordinate site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings and HSE training. Maintain records of inductions, training, toolbox meetings and competency assessments. Ensure employees, contractors and visitors understand applicable site safety requirements. Expected Result: Employees, contractors and site personnel understand their HSE responsibilities: and are competent to perform their duties safely. Incident Management, Investigation & Emergency Preparedness: Lead or coordinate incident investigations and identify root causes. Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate emergency preparedness drills. Ensure incidents are reported to Management and relevant authorities where required. Expected Result: Incidents are promptly reported, investigated and prevented from recurring, with effective emergency response arrangements in place. Monitor incident trends and recommend preventive measures. Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions. Establish and maintain procedures for reporting and investigating accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences. Environmental, Health & Construction Site Standards: Coordinate occupational health requirements, including medical fitness requirements: where applicable. Expected Result: Projects maintain appropriate environmental, occupational health and site welfare standards. Ensure proper sanitation, drinking water, welfare facilities and general occupational health provisions at project sites. Identify environmental and health risks and ensure appropriate controls are implemented. Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, dust, noise, hazardous materials and environmental controls. Monitor housekeeping and site conditions to prevent accidents and environmental harm. HSE Reporting, Audit, Performance & Continuous Improvement: Expected Result: Management has accurate visibility of HSE performance, risks and improvement actions across the Group. Maintain HSE registers and evidence required for Management, client and regulatory audits. Conduct internal HSE audits and follow up non-conformities to closure. Prepare weekly and monthly HSE performance reports using approved Company templates. Monitor HSE KPIs, incidents, inspections, observations, corrective actions and compliance trends. Ensure lessons learned from incidents and audits are communicated across projects. Review HSE performance and recommend improvements to policies, procedures and site practices.
