Account Officer Job Type Full Time , Onsite Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 5 years Location Benue Job Field Finance / Accounting / Audit , NGO/Non-Profit Job Summary The Account Officer will be responsible for managing CWIDI’s day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting grant budgeting and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies, and strengthening internal financial controls. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for organizational and project accounts. Maintain and regularly update the cash book, journals, general ledger, and other accounting records. Record all financial transactions promptly and accurately using QuickBooks. Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records and supporting documents. Budgeting and Grant Financial Management Support the preparation and development of grant proposal budgets in collaboration with programme staff. Review donor budget templates to ensure compliance with donor financial guidelines. Support budget revisions, cost modifications, and budget realignments. Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets and provide budget utilization and variance analysis. Financial Reporting Prepare monthly financial reports for management review. Produce expenditure analysis and budget variance reports. Support the preparation of donor financial reports in line with reporting requirements. Provide financial information to support project implementation and management decision-making. Accounting, Reconciliation, and Compliance Conduct monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile project accounts, cash books, journals, ledgers, and QuickBooks balances. Review retirement documents for project advances and activity funds to ensure compliance with CWIDI policies. Follow up on outstanding retirements and resolve financial discrepancies promptly. Payroll and Statutory Compliance Prepare monthly payroll schedules, staff timesheets, and payslips. Support timely remittance of PAYE, withholding tax, and other statutory deductions. Ensure compliance with Nigerian financial regulations and donor requirements. Audit, Asset Management, and Institutional Support Prepare financial schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits. Maintain and regularly update the organizational asset register. Support periodic verification of organizational assets. Provide financial guidance to programme teams and support the strengthening of CWIDI’s financial systems and internal controls. Perform any other finance- or accounting-related duties assigned by management. Qualifications and Experience: Applicants should possess the following: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience: in accounting or finance, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded project. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, bank reconciliation, payroll administration, and statutory remittances. Experience: with donor financial management and reporting is an added advantage. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
