Job Title: Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst Location: Yaba, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing financial analysis, cost management, budget monitoring, statutory compliance, and financial control support to enhance business performance and decision-making. The role will ensure accurate cost allocation, effective budgetary control, timely statutory remittances, financial reporting integrity, and continuous improvement of financial processes and controls. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting & Budget Control: Monitor, analyze, and report direct and indirect costs across the organization. Maintain accurate cost allocation across departments, projects, products, and activities. Track actual expenditure against approved budgets and identify variances and cost overruns. Prepare periodic cost and budget performance reports for Management. Support cost optimization initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings. Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and review of annual budgets and forecasts. Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. Analyze financial trends, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare management reports and financial insights to support business performance. Develop financial models and analytical reports as required. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities. Financial Controls & Reconciliations: Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger reviews. Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly. Support the implementation and enhancement of internal financial controls. Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial governance. Statutory Remittances & Tax Compliance: Prepare and process VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory remittances accurately and timely. Maintain and monitor the statutory compliance calendar. Reconcile statutory liabilities and tax balances with the general ledger. Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for all tax-related transactions. Liaise with regulatory authorities and support tax audits, reviews, and compliance assessments. Follow up on WHT certificates, tax credits, and related statutory documentation. Systems & Process Improvement: Utilize ERP and accounting systems to support financial reporting and analysis. Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Finance function. Ensure data integrity and accuracy across financial systems. Support finance automation and reporting enhancement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience: Education; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3–4 years’ relevant experience: in: Cost Accounting Financial Analysis Management Accounting Budgeting and Financial Reporting Statutory Compliance and Tax Administration Technical Requirements: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost accounting methodologies. Practical experience: in VAT, WHT, PAYE, and statutory tax compliance. Experience: using ERP or accounting systems such as SAGE, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Odoo.
