We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Logistics Officer Location: Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities: Delivery and Transportation: Arrange transportation for goods and ensure the appropriate vehicle is assigned to each delivery. Ensure goods are properly secured before transportation. Confirm that goods loaded for delivery correspond with the approved waybill, invoice, or dispatch documentation. Coordinate the timely delivery of goods to customers and between company branches. Monitor deliveries from dispatch to final destination. Documentation and Record Keeping: Ensure every movement of goods is properly documented and authorized. Prepare, verify, and maintain waybills, delivery notes, transfer documents, and other logistics records. Obtain signed confirmation from customers or receiving branches after delivery. Submit completed delivery documents to the appropriate department for filing and reconciliation. Goods Handling and Handover: Supervise the loading and unloading of goods where necessary. Ensure goods are counted and checked before leaving the branch and upon arrival at the destination. Ensure returned goods are properly documented and handed over to the responsible department. Report shortages, damages, wrong items, or discrepancies immediately to the appropriate supervisor. Vehicle and Driver Coordination: Report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, delays, or other transportation issues immediately. Monitor vehicle movement and ensure vehicles are used strictly for authorized company activities. Coordinate company drivers, dispatch riders, and third-party transporters where applicable. Monitor basic vehicle maintenance requirements: and escalate major maintenance issues. Ensure drivers have the correct delivery instructions and documentation. Inter-Branch Transfers: Coordinate the movement of stock between branches based on approved transfer instructions. Confirm that transferred goods match the approved stock transfer documentation. Liaise with the sending and receiving branches to ensure proper handover and acknowledgement. Customer Deliveries: Escalate delivery delays or customer-related issues promptly. Ensure customers acknowledge receipt of goods after delivery. Ensure deliveries are made to the correct location and recipient. Maintain effective communication with customers regarding delivery schedules. Cost and Expense Control: Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary transportation costs without compromising service delivery. Monitor logistics expenses such as transportation, fuel, loading, offloading, and other approved delivery-related costs. Ensure logistics expenses are properly authorized and supported with relevant receipts or documentation. Inventory and Stock Coordination: Work closely with the Stock Officer, Inventory Officer, Sales Team, Procurement, and Accounts Department to ensure accurate movement of goods. Ensure no goods leave the warehouse or branch without proper authorization and documentation. Assist in investigating discrepancies arising from transportation or delivery activities. Compliance and Safety: Ensure goods are transported in a manner that minimizes damage or loss. Ensure all logistics activities comply with company policies and procedures. Follow all applicable road safety and transportation requirements. Immediately report accidents, theft, loss, damage, or suspected fraudulent activities. Reporting: Report pending deliveries, completed deliveries, returned goods, vehicle issues, and logistics challenges. Prepare daily or weekly logistics reports as required. Provide management with relevant logistics information when requested. Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and transfers. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Customer satisfaction with delivery service. Accuracy of goods delivered. Zero unauthorized movement of company goods. Compliance with company logistics procedures. Timely completion of deliveries. Timely submission of logistics reports. Reduction in damaged or missing goods. Proper documentation of all goods movements. Reduction and effective control of logistics costs. Proper coordination of drivers and vehicles. Required Qualifications and Skills: Basic knowledge of inventory and stock movement procedures. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Relevant experience: in logistics, distribution, warehouse operations, or building materials/sanitary ware business is an advantage. Good organizational and coordination skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail. Minimum of an OND/HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Ability to identify and report discrepancies promptly. Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery deadlines. Good knowledge of local routes and transportation systems. Personal Attributes: The Logistics Officer must be responsible, trustworthy, punctual, organized, physically alert, proactive, and safety-conscious. The officer must demonstrate integrity when handling company goods, money, documents, vehicles, and customer property. Authority and Accountability: Any loss, damage, unauthorized movement, falsification of documents, negligence, or failure to report logistics-related incidents may result in disciplinary action in accordance with company policy. The Logistics Officer is accountable for all logistics activities assigned to them and must not release, transfer, or redirect company goods without proper authorization.
