We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Assistant Chef Location : Abuja Reports To: Head Chef Job Summary The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, assisting with cooking, maintaining kitchen hygiene, ensuring food quality, and following established food safety and preparation standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist in ensuring guest food orders are prepared accurately and on time. Monitor food quality, taste, freshness, and presentation. Assist with receiving, checking, and monitoring kitchen inventory. Prepare and organize ingredients for cooking. Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and preparation procedures. Maintain a clean and organized workstation. Report low stock, expired, damaged, or spoiled food items. Support the Head Chef and other kitchen staff during busy periods. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures. Properly store food and ensure items are labelled and appropriately preserved. Assist the Head Chef with food preparation and cooking. Clean and properly maintain kitchen equipment and utensils. KPIs Hygiene Compliance:100% Food Preparation Accuracy:≥ 95% Food Wastage:≤ 5% Recipe/Portion Compliance: ≥ 95% Preparation Timeline Compliance: ≥ 95% Qualifications & Experience: Culinary training or certification is preferred. 1–3 years' relevant kitchen or culinary experience. Previous experience: in a restaurant, hotel, hospitality, or serviced-apartment environment is an advantage. Required Skills: Teamwork and cooperation. Attention to detail. Knowledge of food hygiene and safety. Good time management. Ability to follow recipes and instructions. Food preparation and basic cooking skills. Willingness to learn and take direction.
