Working closely with employers, alumni, faculty, and senior management, the Head of Department aligns career services with institutional goals and industry needs, while fostering a culture of integrity, excellence, service, and respect in line with the University’s core values. The Head of the Careers Office provides strategic leadership and overall direction for all career development initiatives within the University. Responsibilities: The responsibilities: include, but are not limited to, the following: Represent the University at external career and employability events. Lead, mentor, and appraise the Careers Office team. Expand internship and job opportunities for students and graduates. Integrate employability skills into student development. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in career services. Lead career counselling and employability initiatives. Develop and implement the Careers Office strategy. Monitor and evaluate departmental performance and outcomes. Build and manage employer and industry partnerships. Engage alumni in mentoring and career support initiatives. Ensure 100% placement of eligible students in compulsory internships. Plan and oversee career fairs, workshops, and mentoring programs. Manage departmental budgets, reports, and resources. Collaborate with faculties, alumni office, and student affairs. Qualifications 10–15 years’ progressive experience: in career services, talent development, higher education: administration, or human resources. Proven experience: in developing and implementing career development initiatives and employer engagement strategies. At least 5–7 years’ experience: in a leadership or management role. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, Counselling, Human Resources, Psychology, Student Affairs, Management, or a related field. A PhD is an added advantage. Requirements: / Competencies: Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, strategic planning, and people management skills. Ability to develop partnerships with employers, alumni, and industry stakeholders. High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to student success Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
