The role combines regulatory enforcement, risk management, staff training, and environmental protection to safeguard people, assets, and the ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, fire drills, and evacuation procedures. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and environmental spills; prepare reports and corrective action plans. Operational Safety: Supervise haulage fleet inspections, marine vessel safety checks, and facility audits to prevent operational hazards. HSE Policy Enforcement: Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, Nigerian statutory regulations, and international best practices (NEBOSH, ISO, OSHA). Environmental Compliance: Monitor pollution control measures, waste disposal practices, and environmental consultancy projects to ensure sustainability. Training & Awareness: Organize inductions, safety drills, toolbox talks, and continuous training for staff and contractors. Risk Management: Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), HAZOP/HAZID studies, and risk assessments for petroleum operations, waste management, and marine services.
