We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Chief Security Officer Locations: Enugu and Lagos Job type: Full-time Objective / Purpose of Job The role provides leadership in security operations, loss prevention, fraud detection, investigations, operational verification, compliance monitoring and emergency preparedness. The CSO partners with Store Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Internal Audit and HR to identify risks, strengthen internal controls and improve profitability through proactive loss prevention initiatives. The CSO serves as the store's primary custodian of operational integrity by ensuring that critical controls relating to receiving, stock movement, sales returns, cash handling and high-risk transactions are consistently verified and complied with. The Store Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for leading the Security & Loss Prevention function within the store to safeguard company assets, employees, customers, inventory and cash while minimizing operational losses and shrinkage. Key Responsibilities: Security & Loss Prevention Leadership Lead and develop the Security & Loss Prevention team to achieve operational excellence. Lead the implementation of the Group Security & Loss Prevention Strategy within the store. Build a proactive Loss Prevention culture across all departments. Drive initiatives to reduce shrinkage, fraud, theft and operational losses. Conduct daily toolbox talks, shift briefings and operational reviews. Develop and execute the store's annual Loss Prevention Plan. Loss Prevention Operations: Customer Entrances & Exits Wine Section Stock Rooms Receiving Operations Shop Floor Electronics Staff Entrances & Exits Cash Office High-value merchandise Delivery Counter Monitor operational risks and deploy preventive controls before losses occur. Ensure effective implementation of Loss Prevention controls across: Operational Verification: Own the store verification process by ensuring independent verification of: Delivery Notes Loss notes Vendor documentation Daily receiving registers Microsoft Dynamics 365 receiving transactions Goods Received Notes (GRNs) Purchase Orders Sales returns Ensure all discrepancies are investigated and escalated within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Inventory adjustments Stock transfers Cash Office reconciliation reports High-value merchandise movements Shrinkage Management: Report shrinkage trends to the Group Head, Security & Loss Prevention. Monitor implementation of agreed actions. Identify key drivers of inventory loss. Analyse weekly and monthly shrinkage reports. Recommend process improvements to reduce future losses. Develop corrective action plans with Operations. Fraud Prevention & Investigation: Lead investigations relating to: Collusion External theft Ensure investigations are objective, evidence-based and completed within established timelines. Return fraud Receiving fraud Document falsification Internal theft Cashier fraud Vendor fraud Operational negligence Stock diversion CCTV & Intelligence Management: Previous day's after-hours activities are reviewed before store opening. Intelligence reports are prepared and shared with relevant stakeholders. CCTV evidence is preserved for investigations. Critical operational areas are continuously monitored. Camera downtime is reported and resolved promptly. Oversee surveillance activities by ensuring: Compliance & Governance: Cash Handling Procedures Microsoft Dynamics 365 transaction controls Health & Safety Standards Loss Prevention SOPs Security Procedures Ensure full compliance with: Company Policies Stock Movement Controls Conduct periodic compliance audits and close identified gaps. Receiving Procedures Fire Safety Regulations Stakeholder Partnership: Work closely with: Law Enforcement Agencies where required Receiving Team Support operational decision-making through timely security and loss prevention insights. Finance External Security Service Providers Store Manager Internal Audit Information Technology Supply Chain Human Resources Operations Control Managers (OCMs) Team Leadership & Capability Development: Implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs). Build technical capability in verification, investigations and fraud detection. Identify succession candidates for key positions. Conduct regular performance reviews. Recruit, coach and develop Security & Loss Prevention personnel. Reporting & Analytics: Daily Verification Reports Provide actionable recommendations based on trend analysis. Prepare and submit: Monthly Loss Prevention Reports Investigation Reports Weekly Shrinkage Reports Risk Register Updates KPI Dashboard Daily Security Reports Compliance Reports Incident Reports Decision-Making Authority The role is authorised to: Recommend process improvements to reduce operational losses. Stop receiving activities where procedures are breached. Coordinate emergency response during security incidents. Escalate fraud cases directly to the Group Head, Security & Loss Prevention. Suspend high-risk operational activities where immediate loss is identified. Recommend disciplinary action relating to security and loss prevention breaches. Reject non-compliant deliveries pending management review. Salary N300,000 - N400,000 / month.
