As the Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, performance, security, availability, backup, recovery, and continuous optimisation of databases supporting our 1Gov, SaaS, Enterprise, and Power Sector solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and proactive professional who is passionate about database performance, data security, system reliability, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our technology platforms have reliable, scalable, and secure database infrastructure capable of supporting high-volume transactions, enterprise applications, government digital services, and power-sector solutions. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Database Administration & Operations: Administer production, staging, testing, and development databases. Monitor database availability, capacity, health, and performance. Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access controls. Perform routine database maintenance, housekeeping, and optimisation. Ensure databases remain available and reliable for business-critical applications. Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain database management systems. Create and manage databases, schemas, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, functions, and database objects. Manage database configurations in line with approved architecture and operational standards. Database Performance & Optimisation: Identify slow queries, locking issues, deadlocks, bottlenecks, and inefficient database operations. Work with developers to improve SQL queries and database design. Monitor and analyse database performance. Review database execution plans and recommend performance improvements. Support performance tuning for high-volume applications and transaction-intensive systems. Perform query optimisation and indexing. Establish database performance baselines and monitoring thresholds. Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery procedures. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises. Maintain database replication and high-availability configurations where required. Schedule and monitor automated database backups. Regularly test backup restoration processes. Support disaster recovery planning and implementation. Ensure critical databases can be restored within agreed service levels.
