Experienced Credit Officer Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND , OND Experience: 2 years Location Lagos Job Field Sales and Business Development Summary As part of our growth and commitment to maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio, we are seeking a competent, experienced, and result-oriented Credit Officer to join our team. The Credit Officer will be responsible for the effective management of the Bank's credit activities, including customer acquisition, credit appraisal, loan documentation, disbursement, monitoring, portfolio management, and recovery. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of microfinance lending, excellent analytical ability, sound judgment, and the capacity to maintain a healthy loan portfolio while achieving business growth targets. Key Responsibilities: Source and develop quality prospective borrowers and business customers. Conduct thorough credit appraisal and due diligence on loan applications. Assess borrowers' character, capacity, capital, collateral, and business conditions. Conduct field visits and verify customers' businesses, residences, guarantors, and other relevant information. Prepare comprehensive credit appraisal reports and recommendations. Ensure that all loan applications comply with the Bank's approved credit policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and complete customer and credit documentation. Monitor disbursed loans and ensure effective post-disbursement supervision. Track repayment performance and identify early warning signs of delinquency. Follow up promptly on overdue loans and implement approved recovery strategies. Maintain strong relationships with customers while ensuring adherence to credit terms. Achieve assigned loan growth, collection, portfolio quality, and recovery targets. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, repayments, and outstanding obligations. Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Risk, Recovery, and Branch Management teams. Provide periodic reports on loan portfolio performance, delinquency, recoveries, and emerging credit risks. Ensure strict compliance with the Bank's policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Perform other credit-related duties as assigned by Management. Requirements: Candidates should possess: A minimum of NCE / OND in Marketing, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline. A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience: in credit/lending operations, preferably within a Microfinance Bank, commercial bank, fintech lending institution, or other financial institution. Demonstrable experience: in loan appraisal, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery. Good understanding of microfinance lending principles and credit risk management. Strong analytical, communication, marketing, and negotiation skills. High level of integrity, accountability, and ability to meet set targets.
