About the Role We’re looking for an AI Engineer to build impactful healthcare AI solutions using LLMs, NLP, Speech AI, and model fine-tuning, helping improve maternal healthcare and medical access across Africa. Key Responsibilities: Architect and implement end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, covering data preparation, model selection, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, deployment, and monitoring. Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI technologies. Establish and follow best practices for AI development, experimentation, testing, deployment, and responsible use of AI. Design, curate, preprocess, and validate high-quality datasets for model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation. Work with Speech AI technologies, including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), voice processing, and real-time conversational AI pipelines.. Architect and maintain scalable AI pipelines using cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) to ensure our tools work reliably in low-bandwidth environments. Required Qualifications Data: Strong SQL and experience: with data engineering tools. NLP: Experience: with Transformers, Hugging Face, and fine-tuning LLMs. Experience: 3+ years of experience: in AI/Machine Learning engineering, preferably within health-tech or social impact sectors. Tech Stack Proficiency: Languages: Expert-level Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras). Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related technical field. Cloud & DevOps: Experience: with Docker, Kubernetes, and deploying models to production (MLOps). Preferred Attributes Passion for Impact: A deep-seated desire to use technology to solve real-world problems in Africa. Language Tech: Interest or experience: in building Translation Models for local African languages. Problem Solver: Ability to build high-performing models that function within the constraints of resource-limited settings.
