Read more about this company UAV Engineer – Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 5 years Location Ogun Job Field Engineering / Technical Location: ODE - REMO , OGUN STATE Position Summary The UAV Engineer (MRO) will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, structural repair, and overhaul of fixed-wing and rotary-wing UAV systems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical background in aerospace, electronics, or mechatronics, with a hands-on approach to maintaining complex unmanned systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all deployed and training drones meet stringent safety, quality, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, and post-flight inspections on various UAV platforms in accordance with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and company standards. Perform routine checks on avionics, propulsion systems, payloads (e.g., EO/IR cameras), communication links, and ground control stations (GCS). Repair & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and isolate complex electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults in UAV systems. Execute component-level repairs, soldering, wiring harness fabrication, and structural repairs of composite and plastic airframes. Replace defective parts, sensors, actuators, motors, ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers), and flight controllers. Overhaul & Upgrades: Perform major overhauls on high-flight-hour UAVs to extend their operational lifecycle. Install firmware/software updates, calibrate sensors, and conduct rigorous bench testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing post-repair. Integrate new payloads, communication modules, or navigational hardware as required for specific missions. Documentation & Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs, service records, and technical documentation for every aircraft in compliance with aviation regulations. Adhere strictly to Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Manage spare parts inventory, tools calibration, and MRO workshop consumables. Training & Field Support: Provide technical support during field operations, test flights, and customer deployments when necessary. Train junior technicians and support staff on basic maintenance protocols and safety procedures. Qualifications & Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree or HND in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on technical experience: in UAV/drone maintenance, aerospace MRO, or a closely related electro-mechanical field. Demonstrated experience: working with both fixed-wing and multirotor UAV systems. Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Strong soldering skills and experience: with diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.). Familiarity with Ground Control Station (GCS) software (e.g., Mission Planner, QGroundControl). Knowledge of composite material repair (fiberglass, carbon fiber) is a distinct advantage. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
