The EHS officer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations within the EHS Department and contribute to the application of effective EHS management, ensurin overall EHS Management System effectiveness and drive improvement. Key responsibilities: Responsible and accountable for assisting management with: Implementing, managing and continuously improving EHS procedures and work practices. Support implementation of Office Safety programs at Kerry Lagos. Compliance with the EHS requirements: of Kerry, local legislation and external certifications. Main Accountabilities: Pro-actively ensure the close-out of EHS-related maintenance tasks in conjunction with the engineering team. Ensure understanding of and compliance to EHS procedures and practices by staff and contractors. Completion of monthly Kerry EHS reports. Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training, including EHS Induction. Monitor and measure environmental performance in accordance with Municipal/county requirements: and Sustainability KPI’s. Proactively identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviours. Implement corrective and preventative actions to close out audit findings. Ensure compliance to EHS procedures and work instructions during maintenance, building, project work with employees and contractors. Promote EHS awareness on the site. Facilitate and participate in internal audits and Kerry EHS audits. Administer and maintain compliance with all Kerry LIFE rules. Train employees and contractors on requirements: of the Kerry EHS systems, promoting incident prevention for the benefit of employees, contractors and visitors. Monitor, measure, compile and report EHS statistics within Kerry and as required by local and national legislation. Coach EHS Representatives and ensure that their duties are completed timely. Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support EHS management. Monitor and measure compliance to EHS objectives and targets. To advise and monitor site risk assessments. Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation and Perform Incident Investigations and root cause analysis. Communicate EHS objectives and targets and performance to all employees and contractors on site. Promote the effective use of PPE’s. Implementation and maintenance of the requirements: of Kerry EHS systems, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Support in the execution of emergency preparedness drills. Ensure compliance with all Kerry policies and procedures and contribute to the development and review thereof. Ensure compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations. Work with personnel at all levels in the organization to drive safety culture and encourage safe working practices. Update EHS documentation in the integrated EHS management system. Factory-Specific Responsibilities: (but not limited to): Update, implement, and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures, assist in report preparation and data gathering. Support in implementing current and future Kerry EHS programs, including; BOS (Behavior Observation System). SeRRA (Self-Regulated Risk Assessment). Small Acts Matter (SAM). Perform facility EHS Inspections Perform additional duties as assigned by EHS Lead Walk the manufacturing floor on a daily basis to establish EHS presence and provide support. Evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE’s. Ensure compliance to Regulatory and Kerry requirements. Co-ordinate and document all EHS meetings (EHS Committee, incident investigation, PPE, contractor, third party, auditing or other). Assist in emergency response, emergency preparedness review, planning and training. Qualifications And Skills: Working knowledge of the requirements: of the OHS Act. National Environmental Management Act Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science or Equivalent. At least 2 years’ experience: working in EHS, preferably in a Food Manufacturing plant. Completed ISPON Level 3 Completed NEBOSH IGC (Advantageous). Experience: in ISO 14001 Systems and ISO 45001 implementation and internal audit. Experience: in performing risk assessments and Root Cause Analysis: Able to influence people even during resistance.
