Procurement Engineer (FMCG) Job Type Full Time Qualification BA/BSc/HND Experience: 3 - 6 years Location Lagos Job Field Engineering / Technical , Procurement / Store-keeping / Supply Chain Job Summary The Procurement Engineer (FMCG) support the procurement and supply chain functions by executing sourcing activities for raw materials, engineering equipment, spare parts and services required for FMCG industry and operations. The role is responsible for sourcing suitable suppliers, obtaining and evaluating quotations, coordinating technical and commercial requirements, monitoring purchase orders, and ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials in line approved specification, budgets and operational requirements. Procurement Execution & Support Assist in sourcing raw materials, engineering spare parts, equipment, and services required by FMCG clients. Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to approved and prospective suppliers. Identify and evaluate potential local and international suppliers based on price, quality, capacity, lead time, and reliability. Obtain, collate, and analyze supplier quotations and support technical and commercial evaluations. Prepare procurement comparison sheets and recommendations for management review and approval. Raise purchase requisitions and support the preparation and processing of purchase orders. Follow up on approved purchase orders to ensure timely supplier acknowledgement and fulfilment. Support procurement activities in accordance with approved procurement plans, client requirements, and company procedures. Technical Evaluation & Compliance Review supplier technical submissions, product specifications, datasheets, drawings, and catalogues to ensure compliance with client requirements. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, equipment manuals, and technical documentation where applicable. Liaise with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and client representatives to clarify technical and material requirements. Ensure that procured materials, equipment, and spare parts meet the required technical specifications and quality standards. Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including RFQs, quotations, technical submissions, comparison sheets, purchase orders, and delivery documentation. FMCG Supplier & Vendor Management Develop and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers relevant to the FMCG sector. Coordinate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, product specifications, lead times, payment terms, and delivery schedules. Monitor supplier performance in relation to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and pricing. Support supplier prequalification, onboarding, evaluation, and periodic performance reviews. Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing options to mitigate supply chain disruptions. Escalate supplier performance, quality, pricing, or delivery concerns to the appropriate management level. Cost Management & Commercial Support Conduct market and supplier price comparisons to support competitive procurement. Assist in negotiating favourable pricing, payment terms, delivery terms, and lead times, subject to approval. Analyse the total cost of procurement, including transportation, logistics, duties, installation, and other applicable costs. Identify opportunities for cost savings and value optimization without compromising quality or specifications. Monitor supplier price changes and market trends affecting procurement costs. Support preparation of commercial proposals and cost schedules where procurement inputs are required. Delivery, Logistics & Expediting Monitor the status of purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure delivery within agreed timelines. Coordinate with logistics, warehouse, site, and client teams to support delivery schedules. Assist with expediting of critical materials, spare parts, equipment, and consumables. Coordinate inspection and quality checks where required prior to dispatch or delivery. Ensure that delivery documentation, certificates, packing lists, invoices, and other relevant documents are properly obtained and maintained. Support resolution of delayed, incomplete, damaged, or non-conforming deliveries. Reporting & Documentation Prepare procurement status reports, RFQ trackers, quotation comparison sheets, purchase order trackers, supplier performance reports, and delivery schedules. Maintain an up-to-date database of suppliers, products, prices, lead times, and procurement history. Provide regular updates on outstanding RFQs, purchase orders, supplier commitments, and expected deliveries. Maintain proper procurement records for audit and management review. Ensure compliance with Raybond Technical Limited\'s procurement procedures, ethical standards, and documentation requirements. Support procurement audits and project/client close-out documentation. AUTHORITY & LIMITS No independent signing authority for contracts, purchase orders, or other commercial commitments. Vendor negotiations are limited to preliminary pricing, technical clarifications, delivery terms, and other discussions within approved parameters. All commercial negotiations and commitments remain subject to the applicable approval limits and management approval. May recommend suppliers and procurement options but does not have final authority to approve suppliers or commercial commitments unless expressly delegated. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline. 3–6 years\' experience: in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or project engineering, preferably within the FMCG, manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer goods, or industrial sector. Proven experience: sourcing engineering materials, spare parts, equipment, and/or production-related materials. Experience: working with RFQs, supplier quotations, purchase orders, procurement comparison sheets, and supplier documentation. Good understanding of FMCG manufacturing processes and the procurement requirements: associated with production continuity. Experience: dealing with both local and international suppliers will be an advantage. REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong technical and engineering knowledge with the ability to understand specifications, drawings, datasheets, and equipment requirements. Good understanding of FMCG procurement and supply chain processes. Strong supplier sourcing, evaluation, coordination, and relationship management skills. Good negotiation and commercial awareness, particularly regarding pricing, lead times, payment terms, and delivery conditions. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and strong documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple RFQs, purchase orders, suppliers, and competing priorities simultaneously.
