Job Title: OSS Triage Nurse Specialist Location: Awka – Anambra Duration: 4 months with possibility of extension (based on performance) Commencement Date: 16th September 2026 Supervisor: Senior Technical Officer – Key Populations/Harm Reduction Grade Level: Consultancy Background Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. It was established as indigenous organizational, registered in 2009 with its headquarter in Abuja, and presence in the four geopolitical regions of Nigeria. It aims to provide technical assistance to the government and people of Nigeria in the implementation of public health and development programs. The Global Fund N-THRIP is to ensure a coordinated and intensive effort to scale up the prevention, identification, and treatment of HIV in both general and key populations in Anambra state. The focus will be on facility and community-based approaches to reach epidemic control, and in addition, ensure improvement in the coverage of pregnant women on ART as well as target KP and AGYW programs. Hence, the consultant will support the implementation of the grant at the one stop shop. Job Profile The Nurse would be responsible for clinical triage and related services at the OSS in line with good clinical practice. She will also support the clinic supervisor to supervise the cART team. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will: Provide a comprehensive triage (in-clinic and/or mobile) and clinical assessment services to clients resulting in safe and appropriate clinical decisions that reflect their healthcare needs. Initiate appropriate nursing interventions (e.g. first aid and emergency interventions) to improve client outcomes and secure the safety of clients and clinic staff, facilitate the triage process using clinical knowledge and appropriate interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and understanding. Work closely with the cART team and OSS staff in ensuring smooth implementation of community/facility-based ART, PrEP, STI and TB service to key population. Conduct brief clinical assessments that determine the clinical urgency of the clients’ presenting health concerns and culminate with the allocation of a care category, which determines the time and sequence in which they receive services. Assist the clinical supervisor in providing HIV prevention, care and treatment services at the OSS and community. Work with the clinical supervisor, MIS Officer and other team members to use programmatic data for improved quality health care service delivery. Contribute to the development of lessons learned from projects related to nursing component of HIV comprehensive services for Key populations. Perform other duties that may be assigned Job Requirements: Education: Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing or completion of an Accredited Nursing Programme. Experience: Must possess minimum of 2 years’ post-NYSC experience: in nursing practice including the practice of triage Possession of advanced training in Nursing would be an added advantage. Experience: in maintaining accurate computerized triage assessment records is an advantage. Previous experience: in HIV/AIDS programmes especially key and general population intervention is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Good knowledge of the concept of public health program in Nigeria Excellent skills in Clinical Nursing services. Experience: with the clinical management of HIV, OIs and other related conditions, as well as community education, advocacy and mobilization skills. Ability to analyze and use programmatic data to inform quality improvements in clinical care. Good relationship management/ interpersonal skills Ability to work as a team member and be able to function independently on the job whenever necessary.
