We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst Location: Yaba, Lagos Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary The role will ensure accurate cost allocation, effective budgetary control, timely statutory remittances, financial reporting integrity, and continuous improvement of financial processes and controls. The Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing financial analysis, cost management, budget monitoring, statutory compliance, and financial control support to enhance business performance and decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting & Budget Control: Track actual expenditure against approved budgets and identify variances and cost overruns. Maintain accurate cost allocation across departments, projects, products, and activities. Prepare periodic cost and budget performance reports for Management. Support cost optimization initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings. Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and review of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor, analyze, and report direct and indirect costs across the organization. Financial Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial trends, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare management reports and financial insights to support business performance. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities. Conduct financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. Develop financial models and analytical reports as required. Financial Controls & Reconciliations: Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies promptly. Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Support the implementation and enhancement of internal financial controls. Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial governance. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger reviews. Statutory Remittances & Tax Compliance: Liaise with regulatory authorities and support tax audits, reviews, and compliance assessments. Maintain and monitor the statutory compliance calendar. Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for all tax-related transactions. Follow up on WHT certificates, tax credits, and related statutory documentation. Reconcile statutory liabilities and tax balances with the general ledger. Prepare and process VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory remittances accurately and timely. Systems & Process Improvement: Support finance automation and reporting enhancement initiatives. Ensure data integrity and accuracy across financial systems. Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Finance function. Utilize ERP and accounting systems to support financial reporting and analysis. Qualifications & Experience: Education; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3–4 years' relevant experience: in: Financial Analysis Cost Accounting Budgeting and Financial Reporting Statutory Compliance and Tax Administration Management Accounting Technical Requirements: Experience: using ERP or accounting systems such as SAGE, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Odoo. Practical experience: in VAT, WHT, PAYE, and statutory tax compliance. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: Data Analysis and Reporting. Financial Modelling Pivot Tables VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost accounting methodologies.
