The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality anaesthesia services for surgical, obstetric, gynaecological, and other medical procedures, while ensuring comprehensive perioperative patient care through pre-operative assessment, patient education, intraoperative management, and post-operative follow-up. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic evaluations to determine patients' suitability for anaesthesia and identify potential risks. Consult with patients and their families, explaining anaesthetic options, associated risks, benefits, and obtaining informed consent. Develop and implement appropriate anaesthetic plans based on patients' medical history, clinical condition, and the planned procedure. Administer general, regional, spinal, epidural, sedation, and local anaesthesia as clinically indicated. Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and physiological status before, during, and after procedures, intervening promptly where necessary. Manage patients' airways and respond effectively to medical emergencies, including resuscitation and life-support situations. Provide post-operative care, including pain management and monitoring patients' recovery from anaesthesia. Collaborate closely with surgeons, obstetricians, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of anaesthetic assessments, procedures, medications, and patient outcomes. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) regulations. Qualifications & Experience: MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution. Fellowship in Anaesthesia (FWACS, FMCA, or an equivalent recognised qualification). Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with a current practising licence. 3 – 5 years' post-fellowship experience: in a reputable healthcare institution is an added advantage. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage. Required Competencies: Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills. Strong knowledge of modern anaesthetic techniques and perioperative patient management. Competence in airway management, critical care, and emergency response. Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills. Ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure. High level of professionalism, empathy, and patient-centred care.
