We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Location: Choba - Port Harcourt, Rivers Employment Type: Full-time Job Purpose The suitable candidate will ensures that all equipment remains safe, reliable, operational and compliant with company and offshore safety requirements. The Offshore Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance of heavy-duty diesel engines and mechanical equipment used in offshore operations. Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, offshore procedures and permit-to-work requirements. Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Perform engine rebuilds and component replacement when required. Work closely with electricians, welders, operators, technicians and other maintenance personnel to resolve equipment problems. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report major defects to the Maintenance Supervisor. Record all maintenance activities, defects, repairs, parts used and equipment downtime. Participate in equipment inspections, breakdown response and emergency maintenance activities. Conduct engine oil, filter, coolant, fuel and hydraulic fluid changes as scheduled. Support planned shutdowns, equipment mobilisation and demobilisation activities when required. Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools, manuals and testing procedures. Ensure equipment is tested properly after maintenance before being returned to service. Carry out planned and corrective maintenance in accordance with approved maintenance schedules. Follow manufacturers' maintenance procedures and technical specifications. Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, fuel systems and other mechanical components. Ensure all tools, spare parts and workshop equipment are properly maintained and accounted for. Immediately report unsafe equipment, mechanical defects, oil leaks, fuel leaks or other hazards. Troubleshoot starting, overheating, lubrication, fuel injection, electrical and engine performance problems. Inspect belts, hoses, bearings, pumps, injectors, turbochargers, radiators and other engine components. Maintain and repair equipment such as diesel generators, compressors, pumps, cranes, forklifts, excavators, loaders and other heavy-duty machinery. Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area. Carry out routine inspection, servicing and preventive maintenance of heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment. Offshore-Specific Duties: Maintain readiness to respond to critical equipment breakdowns. Participate in offshore equipment inspections and maintenance campaigns. Comply strictly with offshore safety, emergency response and environmental procedures. Carry out maintenance activities under challenging weather, space and operational conditions.
