Main Purpose The Nurse (ITFC & IPD) will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) and Inpatient Department (IPD) according to ALIMA protocols, universal hygienic standards and other procedures, in order ensure a good delivery of care. The role involves supporting the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients—particularly children suffering from severe acute malnutrition and other medical conditions. The successful candidate will work closely with doctors and other healthcare staff to ensure adherence to treatment protocols and maintain high standards of patient care. Key responsibilities: include administering medications and therapeutic feeds, monitoring vital signs, maintaining accurate patient records, ensuring infection prevention and control practices, and providing health education: to patients and caregivers. The nurse will also play a vital role in supporting emergency response activities and ensuring proper patient follow-up and referrals when necessary. Responsibilities: Implement and follow at all times the universal hygiene standards, security rules and other protocols and procedures regarding nursing and children nutrition matters. Administer medications and therapeutic feeds Monitor vital sings Maintain accurate records for all patients Ensure infection prevention and control practices Provide health education: to patients and caregivers Support emergency responses activities and ensure proper patient follow-up and referrals Support triage of patients in waiting areas, detecting the priority acute cases, carrying out first aid care when necessary and referring them to the doctor if necessary. Ensure that medical and nutritional care is properly delivered to the patients and to daily follow the evolution of the patients. Carry-out surveillance and follow-up of patients’ medical and nutritional evolution, identifying possible emergency situations arising and keeping doctors informed if necessary. Control all pharmacy, food, and medical equipment (carrying out inventories, checking its quality and its functioning, storage conditions, doing follow-up of expired drugs, etc.). Carry-out administrative procedures and documents (fill in patients files, forms, statistics, etc.), ensure an appropriate written/oral handover, and report any problematic situations and cases arising.
