We are recruiting to fill the position below: Job Title: Wellsite Geologist III Location: Nigeria Type: Contract Offshore Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off. Job Summary The selected vendor will provide experienced personnel to supervise geological operations, ensure data quality, and support communication between the wellsite and office teams. This Scope of Work defines the requirements: for the provision of Senior Well Site Geologist (WSG) services to support offshore drilling operations and post-well reporting. Tasks & Responsibilities: Wellsite Responsibilities: Ensure daily upload of all geological data, reports, and logs. Supervise and quality control all data acquisition activities, including mud logging and LWD/MWD, wireline, and coring services. Intermediate skills in qualitative geomechanics (inclusive of LOT/FIT analysis), real time pore pressure monitoring and pressure surveillance would be beneficial but not required Oversee and validate sample descriptions of cuttings and cavings. Evaluate and interpret geological data, including cuttings and offset well data. Prior experience: with MPD and ERD be beneficial but not required Supervise and quality control all geological operations at the wellsite. Ensure training and development plans for WSGs meet regulatory and operator requirements. Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills across offshore and shore base teams Ensure all geological and data acquisition contractors perform to expected standards. A Senior Well Site Geologist shall: Conduct wellsite log correlation and assist in determining casing points and total depth (TD). Monitor ROV feeds during riserless drilling for shallow flow indicators or adverse conditions. Proficiency in Petrel software Oversee onboarding and technical competency assessments of new WSG and Mud Logging personnel. Act as the primary liaison between the wellsite and office-based teams, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Communicate geological hazards and upcoming section/well TD to the wellsite team. Pre-Drill and Office-Based Support: Establish and manage a duty roster and rotational logistics plan for WSGs. Review and improve third-party operating procedures related to geological operations and data handling. Develop supplemental materials to support offshore communication of subsurface and operational plans. Inspect rig site readiness and collaborate with drilling vendors to address site-specific gaps. Coordinate and prepare pre-drill data repositories and supporting documentation. Schedule and Availability: Vendor must ensure availability of qualified personnel to meet operational timelines. Personnel must be available to work rotational offshore and remote operations schedules (typically 3–4 weeks per hitch). Must be capable of working day and night shifts on a remote offshore facility and remote operations room. Vendor Responsibilities: Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and interface with the ExxonMobil Operations team. Maintain adequate bench strength and succession planning to ensure uninterrupted coverage over the duration of the contract. Provide proof of experience, education, safety training, and drug testing for all geologists prior to deployment. Ensure all personnel meet offshore certification and fitness requirements: prior to mobilization. Deliverables Post-well composite log and well data book. Daily geological reports and data distribution. Documentation of lessons learned, including third-party contributions. Open hole activity geohazard roadmaps Cuttings and cavings reports to inform on wellbore conditions. ExxonMobil will provide access to relevant data, systems, and communication channels necessary for the execution of duties. Final well reports for each hole section and the entire well. Requirements: Personnel Requirements: ExxonMobil reserves the right to refuse individuals based on insufficient experience, education, safety training, or failure to meet regulatory or operational standards. Post-secondary degree in geology or a related field. Minimum of 10 yrs experience: in wellsite and operations geology, with a strong background in deepwater Nigeria would be beneficial Certification or fitness to obtain offshore safety and survival certification.
