The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform, validate, document and report laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently while complying with professional, quality, biosafety and ISO 15189:2022 requirements. Responsibilities: Key responsibilities: include: Comply with biosafety, infection prevention and control requirements. Perform laboratory investigations within the candidate's area of professional competence. Apply statistical quality-control principles and appropriate laboratory quality indicators. Use the LIMS for test requests, sample tracking, result entry/validation, reporting and other applicable workflows. Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results and technical issues. Participate in implementation and maintenance of the laboratory's ISO 15189:2022 Quality Management System. Perform internal quality control and participate in external quality assessment programmes. Operate and maintain automated laboratory analysers according to approved procedures and manufacturers' instructions. Identify, investigate and document quality-control failures and nonconformities. Participate in equipment maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting. Validate and verify results before release in accordance with authorised procedures. Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation. Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes correctly. Participate in internal audits, corrective actions, risk-management activities and continual improvement. Review sample suitability before analysis. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Participate in shift duties and other operational responsibilities: as assigned. Maintain reagent and consumable records and monitor expiry dates. Qualification Training in Statistical Quality Controlis an advantage. Valid Annual Practising Licence. 2–5 years' cognate post-NYSC experience. Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) Candidates must include the autoanalyzers they have used in their CV. Training and certificate inISO 15189is an advantage. For the Medical Microbiologist specialties, experience: with API in the identification of microorganism is an added advantage Experience: in a medical diagnostic laboratory with modern automated analysers is required. Must be duly licensed/eligible to practise in Nigeria. Training in Biosafety and Infection Prevention and Control is an advantage. Experience: with LIMS is an advantage. Skills Set: Knowledge of ISO 15189:2022 requirements. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of internal quality control and statistical quality control. Good documentation and record-keeping skills. Good understanding of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical processes. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work in a technology-driven diagnostic environment. Ability to use LIMS effectively. Ability to troubleshoot routine analyser problems. Strong biosafety and infection-control practices. Ability to operate modern automated laboratory analysers.
